Quick Question...
Something I've wondered about on this board, and about wrestling in general, is the strange sexual-normatives involved in "sports entertainment." People have said it's "soap opera for men," but as a female viewer, I always just compare it to comic books. Apparently the female viewership is actually pretty big; didn't they say it was something like 30 or 40 percent? That's nuts.
One of the things that's always struck me as interesting about wrestling is how ultimately un-sexualized it is. I mean, even when I was 15 watching Trish crawl and bark like a dog in lingerie, it felt more silly than sexy. And all the men grabbing onto each other and face-crotching for powerbombs and piledrivers somehow never came off to me as particularly "gay," which seems crazy, but I think all of us would agree; for something conceptually so gay (muscleman-drama-ballet), wrestling is somehow...not.
Due to not liking big muscles, I'm not really attracted to any of the wrestlers (with slight exception for "out of character CM Punk," Kofi Kingston and a larger exception for young Jeff Hardy), so that "hunky men" aspect of it has never really been sexualized to me either.
But how do you view your sexuality? Lots of guys on here joke about "making exceptions" for Brad Maddox, etc, but really, where you place yourself on the kinsey scale, and how does it, if at all, effect your viewing?

I'm not sure I can call myself a serious gay poster. Yes, I'm a gay male but I don't think I've ever made a serious post.

I'm pretty much asexual honestly. That being said, relationship stuff (regardless of what sexuality's on display) can be pretty entertaining to me. Apparently the female viewership is actually pretty big; didn't they say it was something like 30 or 40 percent? That's nuts. No, that's vagina.

Heterosexual. But wrestling has this weird effect on you that you rather see Kofi Kingston in trunks then those f***ing ugly long tights.

Heterosexual male. Wrestling has a weird effect that desensitizes you to the fact that Taker gets into a standing 69 once a match at least.

Is it that the act of pro-wrestling is too stagey? What is it about it that makes it feel so sanitized, sexually?

I like to ogle SOME of the wrestlers' bodies, but I've never found the actual act of pro wrestling to be all that homoerotic. Heterosexual. But wrestling has this weird effect that on you that you rather see Kofi Kingston in trunks then those f***ing ugly long tights. Ikind of like Kofi's tights. A lot of people like to complain that "everyone is just a generic guy in trunks." Imo if someone has to wear tights, it might as well be the guys who don't seem to draw a lot of homoerotic thoughts. Like guys like Daniel Bryan or Cody Rhodes were made to wear trunks and be gay bait. But not so much guys like Ryback or Kofi, or even the "ridiculously good looking" Tyler Breeze.

I'm heterosexual until John Morrison comes out and makes me feel things I've never felt before. Luckily for me, that hasn't been a problem for several years now.

I thought you were giving us a gimmick change, was gonna say, I can't pull off serious straight, I'd have no chance being a Serious gay poster!
But yeah, hetero here. Only recently in the past 3-4 years did I get past the stage of watching Divas matches closely just in case a boob popped out.

Bisexual is the closest option but my sexuality - and honestly, everyone's sexuality - is more complex than that.

WHAT? Heterosexual Male is the most common user here? I'm shocked.
This is why wrestling fans don't have their own niche dating site. OH THE MONEY I COULD MAKE creating one of those if more wimminz watched wrestling.

I'm gay. I write slash fic. But, I get quickly creeped out by people who watch wrestling for the hot bodies or just for someone's trunks to fall off. They have nothing to say about the quality of a performance but will make a thousand screencaps of that time where Ambrose looked like he was kissing Ziggler.
I know there's no 'wrong' way to be a fan. But damn.

I'm a straight female. Been watching wrestling since I was really little, about four years old. I didn't really start finding guys attractive until I hit 12 years old so yeah, puberty and some of my first crushes were wrestlers. Although I do find some of the superstars attractive, I'm not the kind who watches wrestling only for that reason. I mean CM Punk, Cody Rhodes and Dean Ambrose are like some of my favourites and I do find them attractive but I am a fan of them because I think they're awesome, talented and have great characters.

4 on the kinsey scale. I'm attracted to very few men. Of the wrestlers, I'd most want to have sex with Dean Ambrose, CM Punk, and Brad Maddox. Most of the others are meh... in terms of looks alone, that is. In real life it's only a few guys I know I'd say I find attractive (and I do have a lot of male friends I hang out with, since most of the women I know are busy with their kids...)
As for the divas, there's only like one or two I'd say no to. I love women. In real life, too. I've dated both genders, but my least hated exes happen to be the two girls I dated, lol.
