The only one I have a slight reservation about being on this list is Mystic Quest. Yes, it's simple, but it doesn't mean that it isn't fun. I do understand why they did put it on the list, but I wouldn't have. Instead, I probably would have put X-2 at #10 and knocked everything else up one spot.

Has anyone actually played FF4 After Years? 4 was my favorite FF game, but I've never gotten around to the sequel. How is it?
And Mystic Quest was awesome. Super simplified, but awesome.

XIII should be higher.
FF Legend shouldn't be on the list. It was a Game Boy game, and wasn't an awful RPG by any stretch. The worst you can say for it is that it was a bit dull, but nowhere near as maddeningly awful as XIII.

XIII should be higher.
That game was just piss poor. Just essentially running in a straight line for 40 hours past boring scenery fighting Monsters with little story or little interaction. Plus the 2nd dullest cast of characters since FFXII. How can you have an RPG game with no freaking towns? I always enjoyed exploring towns, doing optional quests, chatting to people and just taking a break from fighting and such.

I'm probably going to be one of the only people who didn't get the gameplay problems with Dirge of Cerberus, I just thought the game was way too damn short.

Mystic Quest should be called "Baby's First Fantasy". It is an introduction to RPG mechanics, it is not made for people who know how to play RPG's already.
It also is a rip roaring good time when you use a Game Genie.

Final Fantasy III is the worst I've played.
XIII-2 is worse than XIII, imo. Two dull as dirt protagonists, confusing story, no Eidolons. XII was also worse.

10. The system and failed emphasis on online gameplay made it bad. 9. Personally, the original Crystal Chronicles should also be in the list. 8. People hate on it only because it was an "easy" RPG. 7. Never played. 6. Never played. 5. Really odd experience system (instead of general experience, you improved your Health and Defense whenever you got knocked around a lot) and many, many points of no return. A rather forgetful game. 4. Wasn't that game where Cloud rode around on a bike? 3. Never played. Of course, since it was made for cell phones, it probably wasn't going to be epic. 2. Never even heard of a "1.0". 1. Never played.

Came in expecting Final Fantasy 8 to be on the list (I like it but most hate it)
Never played any of these ones I don't believe.

I do still find much of the plot incomprehensible and pretentious, but FF13 was just so much worse in that regard.

I do still find much of the plot incomprehensible and pretentious, but FF13 was just so much worse in that regard. 8 was a simple, but effective, story at it's core, but Square didn't want that so they piled a bunch of obtuse garbage on it to try to make it seem more complex then it needed to be. It's a story that's easily fixable (as opposed to 13). But the combat system, while so abusable, was good. The characters were hit or miss, essentially only two mattered throughout the game, but Square had to try to shoehorn a way to connect them more and it came out horribly. I feel like I could fix the entire story with a slight rewrite, and that was really the worst part of the game. 10 was a pretty good story with a horrible script and voice acting. Best battle system to date, but unlike 7 and 8, it didn't allow any true customization of character roles, only the illusion of it. Even 13 did a better job with that by giving you 3 sphere grids to pick from for most of the game, so for a brief stretch you got to feel like you were making someone a better tank or a better mage rather than a better buffer. So basically, at the time it came out, 8 might have been on the list just because Square's pedigree was so high that there little choice with as few games as there were. But since then, they've struck out so often that it comes off.

Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest gets a negative but understandable rep. I look at it as the Kirby of Final Fantasy games. When people think Final Fantasy, they think hardcore RPGs. Mystic Quest is like Final Fantasy for kids and it's a good game for a new gamer to get started on if he's just getting into the RPG genre. Believe me, starting your first RPG on something like FF VII is quite the jump.

Has anyone actually played FF4 After Years? 4 was my favorite FF game, but I've never gotten around to the sequel. How is it? And Mystic Quest was awesome. Super simplified, but awesome. I played it... it was... alright my brother really liked it. But there is a lot of rehash involved. I liked Mystic Quest but I understand why it's on a list like this as this is pretty much the quintessential "just hit A" to win game. XIII should be higher. FF Legend shouldn't be on the list. It was a Game Boy game, and wasn't an awful RPG by any stretch. The worst you can say for it is that it was a bit dull, but nowhere near as maddeningly awful as XIII. Agreed. Yeah, XIII was way worse than most of these though the top 2 are spot on. I really don't think there was a thing I enjoyed about XIII. 10. The system and failed emphasis on online gameplay made it bad. I don't know what you mean by that... 13 was a bad story being told terribly on top of the terrible system which pretty much plays itself... and I don't remember any kind of online gameplay. You are wrong -_- Well unless you only played the single player... single player was pretty dire but it was a fun experience if you are playing with a group of other people. 1.0 was the original release of 14... the one where the developers apologized for TWICE... and was so broken they took a scorched earth policy on it and completely rebuilt the game from scratch for Realm Reborn.
