I never got into this guy at all and I was rooting for Michaels at WMXX but people (especially on the nets) seemed to love this dude

I liked him and was happy that he won at WM.
I actually stopped watching wrestling regularly until a couple years ago shortly after he lost the title.

I never got into him either. He was pretty dull. The crossface was a cool move though.

I wouldn't call him a Vanilla Midget but he certainly did not entertain me beside of course his work in the ring

Greatest technical wrestler of all time in my opinion.

He was my absolute favorite in 2004 and 2005. I always liked him dating back to when I saw him in WCW in 1997, but he had a phenomenal run in WWE. Dude was absolutely a future HOFer when he was alive. I really believe that nobody else in WWE history has ever brought it like Benoit did, which sadly was too hard for his own sanity I think.
What he did was absolutely sickening. There's no justification for it at all. Bottom line. He hurt a lot of people that day. He absolutely blindsided everybody that knew him. Still, I feel kind of reluctant to judge a man completely based on his darkest day, especially since it was his last day. I don't think Benoit was always a monster. I don't know when exactly he changed, but I believe he was a good, albeit intense guy that slowly deteriorated.

I didn't think he was the greatest of all time or anything like that, but I did like him a bit back then.

One of the absolute best in-ring talents there has ever been. Lacked a lot of personality & character, but he more than made up for it with his ability to connect to the crowd with his wrestling talent.
To me though, Daniel Bryan is a better version of Benoit; he has all the wrestling talent that Benoit had but adds charisma & a character to it.
It's still really hard to watch anything that Benoit is a part of, but there's some matches that are hard to ignore in the annuals of history; his title victory at Wrestlemania being the highlight.

Loved 02/03 Benoit. Was coming around on him in 2007 during the MVP feud. Then he killed his family.

I liked him, but I wouldn't say he was ever one of my favourites at any point. There were times where I really appreciated his work though and it was always great to see him in the ring.

One of my favorite wrestlers ever. Followed him all through WCW and into WWE.

Never really was a fan of his I was in the HBK camp for Mania 20
He honestly bored me most of the time
There's a few matches of his that I enjoyed but they always had Jericho or Kurt or someone else I was a fan of in them

Loved watching him work, loved when I got to do a sit down interview with him at Pillman '99. Unfortunately, that interview still haunts me since it was him and Nancy, and she was pregnant. Now I can't watch any match with him in it, no matter how great the ring work might be.
Never liked his promos, save for an early one in ECW where he was just rubbing his hands together and that's what he camera kept focusing on. Intimidating at the time, horror movie quality now.

Benoit is probably the best pure in ring competitor that I've seen. I was a big fan back in the day.

He wasn't my favourite wrestler, but he was certainly someone who was respected. He was an incredible talent, one of the best around, but sadly, the whole striving to be the best around probably was one of the many things that ended up being his downfall.
A lot of people did like him a lot though. I used to be on the Livejournal WWE page when I had a live journal, and when one of the mods wasn't complete idiot, and I remember a lot of Benoit fans that day couldn't believe it, and actually started blaming other people and buying into conspiracy theories, such as Kevin Sullivan being apart of it. Hell, I didn't even clue in to him being a killer until the next day. I was travelling in Manchester and my internet was limited. When I first saw it, I thought, that's horrible, probably something like carbon monoxide poisoning. Weird Al's parents died that way.
Superman had betrayed them. Batman hurt innocent people. And Chris Benoit killed his family. He was a hero to many, and a friend to many. Guys who were good friends with him probably had a really hard time, because not only did they have to grieve for a lost friend, but come to the realization of what a horrible person he became.
