No one wants the Cleveland job. It's time for them to call: Browns owner: "What do you mean he's dead!? Does he have a brother?"

Speaking Monday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league could eventually abolish the extra point. Why? Just because it's rarely missed? Someone needs to piss test this guy. I don't think they should altogether abolish the extra point, but something needs to be done to make it more difficult. There were only five missed extra points on about 1,200 attempts this season. Anything that simple and automatic needs to be reconfigured. My best theory is to keep the two-point conversion from the two-yard line, but move the extra point attempt back to a 30-yard field goal. Sure, it's simple and most kickers should make it with relative ease, but it's no guarantee compared to the 19-yard kick that we currently have as the extra point.

Give the teams the option to either take the extra point (by which I mean just give them seven instead of six) or go for the 2 point conversion. That way, you cut some unnecessary runtime off the game, but you keep the extra layer of strategy.
I imagine coaches who are too stupid to go for two before the end of the game would very much like to see it disappear altogether.

Just make it so that the placement of the ball for the XP is based on where the ball crossed the endzone. So you cross the endzone in the middle, XP is lined up mid field. Knock over a pylon as you score the TD, the XP is lined up just feed from the sideline.

That was the idea (7 points for a TD unless they go for two and fail in which case they only get 6) that was floated by the Commish according to Andrew a few pages back.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell doesn't expect the playoffs to be expanded before the 2015 season.
Goodell also said the league would consider playing Monday and Friday night playoff games under an expanded format.

I'm calling Seattle by less than 10. Should be an excellent game.
Fine fine, specifics: Hawks 31, Broncos 24.

Reading through some Seahawks forums and, my God, are their fans cocky as all hell. I've seen cocky fans before, and EVERY fanbase holds a bias, but holy shit.
I mean, the way they're talking you wouldn't know they're going up against the #1 Offense in the league; as a matter of fact, it reminds me a lot of how Bronco fans talked, myself included, going into the playoff game last year against Baltimore. "Oh, man, we got this! It's going to be a piece of cake! They're not that good!"
Peyton's a man on a mission, and if Hawks fans think this game is going to be a walk in the park for them they've got another thing coming.

Yeah, I like the idea of pushing the PAT back or going for 2 from the current spot. The PAT is practically meaningless as it sits, it's practically a highlight when one gets missed.
