I am pretty much as far away from the target for the main site as possible. Very little of pop and nerd culture interests me. I did like the articles JD had on his adventures in pornland as they were completely different than you'd find elsewhere and I try to catch the classic/retro game stuff. The stuff that is really unique, whether it is the topic, author, article style or whatever usually what gets me to check something out. I do think more stuff coming off the board would be interesting, Wrestletaint style newz, photoshop/caption contests, countdowns things like that would be fun based on the creative people we have and the ability to take part in.

Also Número needs to make more videos or video editing. I'd imagine if game reviews had a video review like IGN style it would be great. I know it's all lots of work and risky and ambitious but dude is mega talented

Also double post sorry but it's pretty disheartening that Not a lot of people know we have a FAN HOF for threads, needs more focus from the main site because that'll draw more people on the site to check out things. Plus more emphasizes of PM'ing Bob of threads not yet inducted. Maybe a group poll or something?
Also we need a database and origins of memes of FAN with the style and research as knowyourmeme.com

Wrestletaint on the main site would be awesome. Yeah...actually, why not have a wrestling "The Onion" for lack of a better word? So www.kayfabenews.com?

Should I offer Lancers a multimillion dollar contract to bring wrestletaint.gov to the main site? Plus the company car. And it better not be a Mazda Miata.

To even things up, I think the front page could be rearranged to where Raymond/Retro Sinister's articles are all in one spot instead of being scattered all over the first few pages, since he's the one that covers the MLP: FiM stuff and most of the retro cartoon topics.
I'm also in favor of the Wrestletaint idea, and I think some reviewers that discuss films currently in theaters would go a long way in attracting more readers (or forum members). The more obscure things the site tackles are all perfectly fine, but focusing on just that limits our appeal.

Free advertisement for my book (and future books)? Besides that, or just out and out MAKING every poster on the forum buy the eBook version ($1.99 this week kids!), I think what people have said so far is a good start, maybe combine nostalgia with current stuff, perhaps a contest or two of some sort--- could even tie that into getting content perhaps, like a Star Search sorta thing. An idea might be a page that sorta provides a 'glossary' of FAN forum common themes/memes/jokes etc.. maybe make that a wiki type feature if that's possible where people can add their favorites. Maybe do like a 'post of the week' award for something that's gotta an inordinate amount of Likes on here if that wouldn't be too much of nightmare to coordinate, as that'd make posters feel like things were more "interactive" with them. Take a popular show like Game of Thrones or the like, and have commentary or reviews, potentially in a live format. You guys also might do well with occasional 'recruitment' drives, i.e. "Hey FANtoms (I'm gonna get that label over yet), we're looking for a writer for XYZ..." and take occasional submissions having to do with certain topics.

I say that once we start generating some money, we start hiring has-been writers from other sites. Not because they bring talent, but because of their famous names. We give them partial control of the website and pay them obscene amounts of money that we barely have. And we also ignore newcomers with a lot of talent. The less respect we treat them with, the better.
That is a sure fire way of succeeding, people.

For anyone complaining about the MLP reviews, sorry, but it's not going away as long as I'm a writer there. Mainly because that's what I was first brought to the site to review to begin with, and as long as the show, comics, and other stuff is around, I'm still going to write for it. I'm also going to write nostalgia based stuff because that's what I'm good at and I do put my best efforts to keep content on the boards.
Though if I was to suggest something, I do wish the search bar was back, and a few more subsections for articles.

I'm looking at the main site right now and it's full of things I go to other sites to look at. Make it widescreen or give it the option to be put into widescreen (hate big blank spaces at the sides of web pages. Otherwise it's content are things I have read on the forum anyway. I guess it's fine if it's purpose is to guide people to the forum. I don't mind ponies but the very first link is about them and I can see how it could put people off. Also the anime review needs to be checked again - word missing from the clickable banner, looks bad.
You also have two podcasts on the front page. While I like the podcast very much, having two of the same thing (back to the ponies again) on the first page of the site indicates a lack of content for the casual browser.

I think that's more an issue of a lack of regular writers. I write at least 3 articles a week for different things, but since there's only a few writers a week, It's easy to see why my previous week MLP article can stay stuck on the front page

But I made the same complaint about ReBoot

But I made the same complaint about ReBoot Well with the ReBoot stuff, I was trying to get them all finished before the year ended, but yeah. What could help the site the most is a lot more hands who want to do weekly work throughout all the article sections. It would definitely help for those who don't just want to see the same stuff covered over and over (though TBH, I'm sticking with what I review and have no plans on changing as mentioned. If anything I may want to do more articles on retro stuff).

- A search bar. - MS Paint/Photoshop articles. - No "less of this, less of that." FAN specializes in "geeky" interests, does it not? Although, maybe articles could be sub-categorized a little, so that the latest article in a "series" is the one that pops up on the main page.

I'm all for adding articles about sports on the main site. Maybe have some kinda roundtable discussion where people can give their opinions on what's happening in the sports world.

I could probably try to write some more wrestling stuff if you need it. Can't just keep coasting by with helping @fsinfan with the awards at the end of the year.

Before I write this I want to assure everyone nothing in this post is an attempt to insult any of the writers, if you feel I've been unfair please PM me and if I feel on reading your responses I should add to this to clear up any problems I shall.
I'd honestly try to focus on key things a lot more and be less scattered in topics.
I don't regularly check the site as I tend to get a bit cringey re: porn write ups (I'd not mind it so much if there were intellectual short summaries of worries in porn, but I know that'd be a turn off for many people) and I'm not a fan of MLP which on scanning pages/articles seems to be the main draw. I'm not reading into further pages as I'm giving genuine first impressions here and most people don't tend to read past page 1 to see what a site is about. I'm not so big on the music reviews either, no offense to the writers as I see the ambition is there but...yeah, they really don't sell me on music I know about/listen to.
However if regular write ups could be made solely on three subjects maybe that'd be better? Possibly easier to find people to write if it just covered pro wrestling (the main site draw, and given the quality of writers on this very forum I believe they could provide constant quality...plus a monthly photoshop!), modern cartoons (with a once a month recap of a classic cartoon series, not a broken up 10 part study on such things), and new independent video games as a final smaller section (we have a Steam group and I noticed a fair few people play games others may not have heard of)?
FAN feels too scattered as a site to really draw me in when I know many other sites do the cartoon recaps better, the music reviews with much more detail/production & songwriting references, and I'm well aware if I wanted to find alternate views on porn I could find it elsewhere (it actually really quite worries me, awareness of sex work and such always makes me wary of jovial comments without telling people some realities), same with the MLP fandom being so much stronger/well written on other sites on the internet. Just need to draw in more writers on key subjects in order to establish a hook.
I reiterate that I hope no writers takes offense to anything I've written but given the wrestling forums on here are great I'm sure with development in writing/topics the site could be just as good to read through in a few months time.

I feel I do my best with what I'm good at writing about. And it's something that makes me feel good. Whether it's old game reviews or reviews of old cartoons, or even MLP. I'm personally not much of a fan of most modern things, so reviewing old stuff is something that I can work with far better. Hell, my current user name has Retro in the title, that should speak volumes as to what I prefer in terms of writing.
As for "it can be found better written in other places", sorry if you feel that way about the work of some of us, but speaking for myself, I think I do a good enough job with how I write, as do the rest of the writers on the site. And I know of a lot of people who have openly praised my work. Hell, my name is on a wikipedia article for an MLP episode review. That alone is enough for me to know that I'm doing a fine enough job and have earned some (albeit minor) recognition for it.
Though I will admit, the site could use more writers who do enjoy talking modern stuff, and more wrestling articles (though there are a hundred sites and podcasts that have dug into every part of wrestling from modern to the old), but as it pertains to my style, and what I enjoy giving out to people in terms of writing, it's staying as is.

So I had this other idea come to my head which I wanted to share: As mentioned by DeanSoDisco above, we have a Steam group here at the FAN, and sometimes I see that some of the games being played are ones that you can play for free. So I was wondering what if we did a thing where we look at different F2P games that are out right now? And I'm not just talking about games people already know about like Team Fortress 2 and Pinball Arcade, but games that may not be known like CrimeCraft: Gangwars, Forsaken World and Rusty Hearts. Would anyone be interested in something like this?
