Like, because of the 2 minute lovefest between Will Smith and Nike Converse in I Am Legend, did you decide to go out and buy Nike Converse?
As a kid I can remember wanting some products that were shoved in my face in movies like the sweets from E.T and of course, Transformers toys from the TV show but as an adult I can honestly say I haven't. In fact, it's ridiculously obnoxious like the Nike Converse product placement in I Am Legend and the Apple Mac product placement in Independence Day, I refuse to buy the product on principle. I don't mind it if it's minimal, like a character just wearing a certain type of clothing (Sherlock's trademark trench coat and James Bond always wearing an expensive designer suit for example) but when it's over-the-top obnoxious and in your face, it irks me.

Transformers franchise really helped GM. It's practically a commercial for the new generation of the Camaro.

The one time that stands out for me is buying Scrabble because two characters in Generation X, part of the X-men family of comic books during the 90s, were playing it. I've played scrabble for years with my family and friends during the holidays and it's funny that it started because of a random comic book.

Interesting you mention James Bond as I think the recent ones have had some of the worst examples of product placement, he even had a discussion about his watch.
Anyway like you I deliberately try to avoid the worst examples, however I assume the more subtle cases have had the same brainwashing effect as other advertising by raising brand awareness so I expect it's influenced what I've bought. (ie. Picking the brand name I recognise when faced with a wall of similar products on a shelf)

Harold and Kumar have caused me to visit White Castle many, many times.
It's like I forget the restaurant even exists, then I see even a tiny clip of their movies and suddenly... I crave!

My six-year-old self was easily swayed to be a fan of whatever pizza chain the Ninja Turtles were promoting at the time.

Conciously? Other than GI Joe/He-man/The Toymetic Adventures of Buythisguy... not that I can think of. My six-year-old self was easily swayed to be a fan of whatever pizza chain the Ninja Turtles were promoting at the time. Pizza Hut. I only remember them promoting Pizza Hut. (even in the Arcade game )

I'd like to say no, but I'm sure I've been swayed at some point if we're being real.
Product placement is so dumb. Movie characters don't just drink pop, they drink Coca-Cola with the logo face forward at all times and someone is sure to comment on it.
It's just so shamelessly hamfisted.
No one happens to go to McDonalds. They're at McDonalds for the sake of being at McDonalds. It's utilized in a way that's not even close to being organic.

Adam Sandler definitely knows how to do product placement right. If you draw attention to it and make yourself out to look like a whore then I appreciate it because it's funny. I only ate at Popeye's Chicken because of Little Nicky.

I've never been influenced by or partaken in product placement. ...But if I was, it was doubt by an ad playing with clear image quality and streamlines access; like the type you see on Samsung's 55" Smart LED HD TV set, available at your local Best Buy for the low, low price $999.99. Samsung. Everyone's Invited.

I did get Subway one specific day because of Chuck, and did eat it more while that show was on.
In my defense, Subway was a huge sponsor of Chuck, and part of the reason it lasted for 5 seasons. One of the reasons the show was renewed after season 2 was because of Subway, and the campaign from fans to be a sandwich on the day of the finale and fill out a comment card to let Subway know. So Subway just started paying to have more of their food in the show, and it brought more advertisers to the show, which helped it big time.

Whenever I see Nutella somewhere or even Cinnamon Toast Crunch, I can't help but think of "This Is The End."
