This is good news, but there is still room for improvement.

I'm not really sure what to make of this latest ratings upswing, but good for TNA. Hopefully it will continue.

Not surprised. Still haven't got to watching the end of last night's show. But I made it to the end of Roode/Angle's Cage Match and it had been pretty good so far. Some good backstage stuff, some good wrestling (Aries/Sabin went short but was pretty good for what it was), some good build-up to the main event (which granted I haven't seen yet so could be awful). And that nothing short of excellent cage match between Roode and Angle. Seriously, I know no-one will give it credit since it's TNA and obviously everything in TNA is awful because it's TNA but that match was brilliant. So much fun to watch that I didn't even mind that Angle won. Loved the finish, loved everything about it. They even managed to make my most hated stipulation fun - the cage door being left open - wonderful match.
In short, no surprise the viewership went up, the 2/3's of the show that I've seen so far were a lot better than last week (which outside of Bully/Anderson was a very meek affair).

Said it another thread about Impacts rise in viewership but they may have finally stummbled upon exactly what they finally need to do and thats just go balls to the wall with their show appeal to the college demographic that WWE alienates instead of trying to be WWE lite.

This happens all the time. TNA's ratings are probably going up because the NFL Season has come to a close which means no more Thursday Night Football and I imagine less competition in general for them (I think they only compete with NBA currently, correct me if I'm wrong)
Once the competition comes back they'll drop down. They should be trying to hook everyone they can in the next month or two.

The Thursday CBS lineup being all reruns helped I'm sure.

Surprise, surprise. Their ratings go up when actual wrestling happens.

WWE's ratings have also increased lately, so the lack of NFL competition is likely a part of it (although WWE is gearing up for WrestleMania season so they will see upward ratings for the next 3 months anyway).
Impact drawing 1.55M viewers is a pretty big jump, as they are usually around 1.0-1.3M nowadays. It probably can't be attributed to anything in particular, but I will give full credit to Gunner for the increase. Just because.

It was actually Gunner's beard that boosted ratings. The beard should ditch Gunner.

Doesn't surprise me since so much has been going on with TNA lately. Good or bad, there's been a lot of TNA news/z recently. Fans aren't sure if AJ/Double J/Sting's departures are works/real, rumors of Sting to WWE and talk of Double J starting a new company.
It could just be the time of the year, but I hope it's more than that.

One source in the company claimed this evening that this past Thursday's Impact was the highest rated episode in two years for the company. - PWInsider

I am not surprised. Dead weight gone and less BS in general have finally shown some results. But I still believe that more than half of the viewers are casual fans who TNA need to hook with good shows.
As long as they keep building up the talent and removing the dead weight from creative, TNA will finally be on track.
A new Double J wrestling show......lmao it will be the greatest fail of all time...and considering what has come before.....that's saying something. TNA lite anyone? lol

Main event clusterf***s = ratings bonanza. Your move, Russo. It's funny, in 2012-13 TNA did a whole bunch of long, drawn out storylines that lasted a year or more (Roode/Storm, Aces and Eights, Joey Park, etc) and at least tried to make them sensical, yet it never showed in the ratings. Now they are taking a typical Vince Russo booking style, multiplying the chaos by 10, and the numbers are improving. It's as if TNA's fanbase is clamoring for the craziness and sloppy storytelling.

You know what this means. TNA has to promise to fire a wrestler on camera every week for a ratings boost. I think it's less to do with the Russorific storylines and wrestling matches but more for the promise of someone getting fired that week. I won't be surprised if Kenny King is brought back just to get his pink slip on air.

Hey people look making fun of crap of crap by watching said crap. That's the reason for the Scary Movie franchise.

TNA's audience always skewed more smarky, and I think the word must be going round that Hogan really is f***ing gone.
