See, if this were like three weeks later, I could totally plug that one of the comics has a chapter where the premise is a heavy snow in Texas.
Wait, I still did, suckers!

Remember that episode of King of the Hill when it snows? Yes. The only thing worse than the fact that we Southerners go crazy over little snow or simply the threat of snow is Smug Northerners who are all like, "I used to walk to school through 12 feet of snow. You guys are sooooo lame." It's not normal to us. It's essentially an alien invasion. Something we rarely think about and are unprepared for when it happens There is always, always a transplant in the area... >_> <_< Like my Wife, who is all "You people don't know how to drive in the snow!" It's also important to note that any snow on old, rural roads has the potential to be dangerous and deadly. There's one hill near my house that was a car graveyard one year when we had a big (4-5 inches) snow. Of course there are no snowplows either, so if the temperature stays low--alongside the trees blocking out the sun in some places, then it can be several days before it's advisable to try and drive towards town due to the fact the road will be encased in solid ice. That being said, those pictures are great.

Yeah, Houston and Austin aren't equipped for any ice or snow whatsoever, the northern part of the state wouldn't even blink at that though.

Being from the Houston metro area, I have fond memories of having a day off school one year when there was a bit of ice. We just have no idea how to deal with it. Although, a few years ago we were meant to fly back to England in December when it was snowing and amazingly, the flight was almost on time and wasn't cancelled. So, not everything totally shuts down.
But living here, snow has totally lost it's amazement to me. Strange thing is, this year it's snowed in Houston and not here in the UK.

We don't get snow here in this part of Texas, we get ice. Mounds and mounds of ice pellets. People drive on it, it melts, then it refreezes into nasty sheets.

It was awful. I scraped ice of my winshield for literally 20 seconds before going to work yesterday.
Of course, by noon the sun was shining, but still.

South Texas didn't get snow, but f***in' ice. Cars were slip n' slidin' down the bridge, horrible. I love cold weather, but snow would destroy me.
