I know, I know, he would've been a better choice than Batista, so he's safe from most of the hate tonight... but Ted Junior's literally the last guy I can remember getting this same kind of treatment where they'd handle him like glass while doing everything in their power to make him look like this future megastar. How many televised singles matches has Roman had in the year+ since he debuted? Does it even reach double digits? Has he ever cut a promo on his own?
He's great at what he does, but what he does seems so limited that I'm bracing myself for a really bad flop when he finally has to go solo and sink or swim on his own merits.

Ted DiBiase never won over a crowd like Reigns did tonight. WWE never positioned DiBiase (Jr) in a big way like they did with Reigns tonight.

Reigns will be fine, he'll be a wrecking machine type like Batista. Ted Jr. never had that size or intensity, he was more of a technician type. Roman actually has some charisma as well.

If you replace Roman Reigns with Curtis Axel in your title, I'd see where you're coming from. Reigns is getting over like gang busters. If anything, his run is starting to mirror Batista's from a decade ago.

They would not have someone break the record of most eliminations in the rumble if he wasn't going to be a big star.

I agree, they are kinda pushing him in a way that seems forced. That said, Reigns is actually good at working a crowd and actually has a memorable moveset.

I had no idea that there were vibrators based off of Ted Jr and had no idea that Roman Reigns sells them. You learn something new every day.

He had a few singles matches with Bryan and Punk.
Yeah, yeah, he should have a match with Rowan to see how well he can do honestly, but I don't think he's a bad hand. Hell, for that minute he was in there with the Rusty Body, he shined brightly.

Go back to the week Jr. ran in out of nowhere returning from an Orton punt, that crowd was booming for Jr. to kill Orton and WWE shit all over it by having Jr. give himself to Orton.

I was actually thinking about Sheamus when I made this post, because they did the exact opposite with him. Sheamus got thrown in to the deep end and was left to sink or swim. He didn't get to spend a year and half in multiman matches where his partners carried the load while he hit a couple big moves and was raved about as the most awesomest thing since sliced bread.

I disagree with your assessment of The Shield. Reigns has more than held his own when it comes to the work of the group.

Agree to disagree. I don't see that being on par with eliminating twelve superstars from the Rumble and being the final man eliminated.

Ted Dibiase Jr was never presented as being worth anything. The commentators put him over, then he would lose.

I'm not really a fan of Reigns (on his own, at least) but even I've got to admit that he could do well. I'll agree that he's had very few singles matches compared to Ambrose or Rollins and his spearfests annoy the hell out of me, but I can admit that's he's learnt a lot in the past year.
Remember the first interview Cole did with The Shield - how awkward was Reign's one line? Now, I actually enjoy his parts of The Shield's backstage promos. Yelling included.

I think he's more relaxed now. He's surely noted that the crowd is into him so he's gained confidence and can just talk out his part now, rather than "trying" to sound like a badass...he can just be one.
