Assassin's Creed series Darksiders series
Jesper Kyd's (who did both above series and a whole lot of other stuff since the Genesis days; he's done some incredible things with that Genny sound chip) music is just fantastic in general.
Also World of Warcraft's music is really good, especially the Wrath of the Lich King stuff.

Haven't thought about it much, but I'm currently playing Bravely Default, and that has an amazing soundtrack.

There's been lots of great video game soundtracks. There is no single one song in the past decade because they're all equally good. To give just one example, every entry in the Ace Attorney/Phoenix Wright series have great songs. Wait to get home from work to give my answer and find someone makes it 4 minutes before I do. But yeah, the AA games have some of my favourite videogame music. I was just listening to some of the tracks from Dual Destinies last night and I quickly fell down a YouTube hole of all the great tracks they've had across the series. The Reminiscence and Cornered tracks are especially effective. While we're at it, the Ace Attorney Investigations spin off has some awesome songs on it too. As does Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.

Metal Gear Rising, yes it used real artists. But it was individual members from different bands, all composed by one person, all specifically for that game.

Personally, I feel the Katamari Damacy main theme fits this. The entire soundtrack is incredible and fits the game so perfectly. This and Shadow of the Colossus are the only two video game soundtracks I've put on a mobile music device.

The Ace Combat series always seems to have awesome music. I second that, including this piece of sheer awesomeness from 4.

There was something very charming about Cave Story's soundtrack, simple as it was.

Metal Gear Rising, yes it used real artists. But it was individual members from different bands, all composed by one person, all specifically for that game. Can't believe I forgot Rising. Best part is the way they'll be instrumental until a vital part of the battle, then the lyrics will kick in and feel epic. My favourite's probably Monsoon, probably by association because it's an awesome battle. And I didn't know about the RULES OF NATUUUUUUUURE phenomenon until this thread, but I get the feeling I'll be trawling Youtube watching them for the rest of the night!
