I was thinking what new original videogame franchise has great music in the last 10 years?
I don't mean sequels or follows ups to existing game series like final fantasy or Mario, I mean unique fresh soundtracks in a recent game that are also not using real life artists.
What is the Ducktales Moon theme of the last ten years in videogames?
This thought process came from playing Minecraft and the music within which is both good and peaceful, not terribly catchy though.

The soundtracks to "Fez" and "Journey" are very good.

Personally, I feel the Katamari Damacy main theme fits this. The entire soundtrack is incredible and fits the game so perfectly.

The soundtrack for Mario 3D World is off the chain. All of it.

This and Dark Souls. The only ones I've gone out of my way to put on my iPod, so worth it.

I could listen to "The Drunken Whaler" (from Dishonored) all day.
Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City also had very good music (haven't played Arkham origins yet). It felt like a mixture of the styles of the animated series and the Nolan films.
I'll second the Katamari Damacy and Hotline Miami soundtracks.
Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines (screw you it's not 10 years old yet) has an awesome soundtrack with quite a few original songs such as "Lecher Bitch".

Strategy games are probably not going to get much rep here, so here we go:

The sea shanties in AC4 are pretty stellar. Minecraft's music is pretty recognizable and is great for insomnia

There's been lots of great video game soundtracks. There is no single one song in the past decade because they're all equally good. To give just one example, every entry in the Ace Attorney/Phoenix Wright series have great songs.

There's been lots of great video game soundtracks. There is no single one song in the past decade because they're all equally good. To give just one example, every entry in the Ace Attorney/Phoenix Wright series have great songs. Wait to get home from work to give my answer and find someone makes it 4 minutes before I do. But yeah, the AA games have some of my favourite videogame music. I was just listening to some of the tracks from Dual Destinies last night and I quickly fell down a YouTube hole of all the great tracks they've had across the series. The Reminiscence and Cornered tracks are especially effective.
