Poor poor Emma
to me she'll always be the girl who managed to pull her skirt down to cover here crotch while she was knocked unconscious from taking a accidental superkick from Carlo Canon around 5 years ago at a wrestlerock show

The appeal of Emma's gimmick is the sheer silliness-sort of like when people turned Fandango'ing into a web craze. But yes, it was a dead response and probably would have better if the audience got a glimpse of her talent in the ring as well. But now, thanks to that damn crowd, WWE will probably hold off any plans to bring up anymore NXT stars, so we will wait even longer to see Paige make her debut.

Poor Emma, Nebraska has no love for quirky dancing Australians. The WWE should have called an audible and got Santa Claus or Jake the Snake to host the dance off instead of Santino

It would have been worth their while to debut her without attaching her to the sinking anchor more commonly known as Santino Marella's worthless existence. Nothing says "Take nothing I do seriously" more than being linked to Santino. Sometimes that's a good thing, but definitely not in this case. Emma didn't need a serious debut by any means, but she's one week in to being a main roster talent, and she's already on the path of dancing with Santino, The Great Khali, Hornswoggle, El Torito, Fandango, and all the other characters WWE has told us not to care about.

Crowd was into her other than the dance part. I bet that's mostly because most of them have never seen an episode of NXT, so you only had a fan here and there doing the dance in a sea of no reaction. IMO once she gets more Raw and SmackDown segments the crowd will buy into her dance and gimmick, much like they did with Uso's or Millions of Dollars.
I loved her debut, easily the highlight of Raw for me.

I don't think it's just the town.
That gimmick's not going to work on the main roster at all.

I like Emma. I enjoy her work on NXT a lot. My problem with her debut had more to do with the fact that I was watching with a non fan. How the hell am I supposed to explain what was going on in the ring and why she was supposed to be getting cheered. Throw Santino in the mix and I don't have a leg to stand on.

I've never seen her work a match but just drop the whole retard dance schtick before just throwing her out there.

She got a small pop when she got into the ring, but I think the WWE made a mistake in thinking that the live crowd knows much about what's going on in NXT. I couldn't help but laugh as when Emma started dancing the audience had looks of pure confusion.

Woods didn't do so hot, Emma is off to a rough start.
Maybe a majority of NXT's "silly, ain't this silly?" gimmicks won't play on the main roster?

I couldn't help but laugh as when Emma started dancing the audience had looks of pure confusion. Isn't NXT only available on Hulu in America? (well legally) If so... uh... yeah I'm not horribly surprised that most people don't know what's going on in NXT.

What plays for a small dedicated crowd that's pretty much the same every week doesn't necessarily work for bigger, more varied crowds on a week to week basis.

Woods didn't do so hot, Emma is off to a rough start. Maybe a majority of NXT's "silly, ain't this silly?" gimmicks won't play on the main roster? I'm a fan of Woods, but he wasn't really consistently on NXT TV. But that's part of the problem for sure, and as I said, WWE tends to overestimate how many people watch certain things (overestimated how many people would care that Otunga was married to Jennifer Hudson, the Total Divas stuff) I dunno if it's regular Hulu, but for awhile it was Hulu Plus. But yes, this too. I mean I think Emma will get over as she's pretty likeable, and when you add her bubbles in the entrance to her theme and the dance, it's hard to to like her. BUT just giving her a few random 5 second shots on Raw and then having her dance when nobody in the audience really knows about her dance wasn't smart. If you aren't going to use Vignettes to get someone over, that person better have something to the crowd interested in them.

I wonder if the Network will help/hurt/do nothing to help with the transition from NXT to Main Roster

I don't often agree with you but I 100% agree with this. I think they either need to handle it like FCW where they assumed nobody watched it or feature like one NXT match a week on Raw to increase familiarity with that product.
