Does anyone know how long this was used for? Is there any footage of it out there? I can remember seeing this on TV as a kid and realizing even then how strange it was, but even though people bring it up every now and then, I still can't find any video of it.

It was supposedly used for a few weeks of TV tapings because the arena that they were doing filming with got double-booked and they were the victims in that (You're an EEEEEEEEEEENIS!!).
As far as video footage, I have never come across any of it on YouTube, nor are there any images of it on Google Search. Strange, but I also want to see footage of this moment of the AWA

I always thought that the pink room happened because the AWA coldn't fill an arena That's what I thought. That they used the big pink room 'cos Verne was going broke. Wasn't that the problem, Verne? That you were going broke? Verne? Verne? Hey, Verne. Oh, you're thinking about all the money you blew aren't you? What was it? Fifty, sixty thousand dollars? Maybe it would help if we went over all the mistakes you made from the beginning. Verne? Verne?

Just tried looking it up on Youtube and man, if it's there, it's well-hidden. "AWA Turkey on a Pole Match" does nothing, nor does "Col. DeBeers Jake Milliman". Last time I saw WWE try so hard to bury footage was with Katie Vick.

The pink room had to be a studio in the KTMA building where MST3K was being filmed, no?

What was the kayfabe reason for the pink room?
Wasn't it projected as a security thing?

Last time I saw WWE try so hard to bury footage was with Katie Vick. I'm not sure WWE owns this era of AWA footage. It used to run a couple years ago on ESPN Classic, but only the dying years. Unless ESPN had some kind of agreement to air it?

It's only the shit years, like 87-89 or so, right?

I know that ESPN airs most of 1986, some 87 which is mostly from the Civic Center I believe because Orton and Adonis are around, and a good amount of Showboat cards from 1988 and some of Mid South Coliseum tapings to build SuperClash. Most of the 1990 stuff is from the St. Paul Civic Center since you have Zbyszko facing Race, Nikita, and The Trooper.
I think that the pink room matches were used for All Star Wrestling episodes, while they filmed the Civic Center for ESPN. I do remember them hyping that Roddy Piper and Snuka were coming back in 88 and that The Rockers, RocknRoll Express, Big John Studd, and Ricky Steamboat might be in the Team Challenge Series.

The pink room sounds so seedy. You arrive at an AWA Event, a referee asks if you want to go to The Pink Room, you go back there and Larry Zbyszko gives you a lap dance.

Unless ESPN had some kind of agreement to air it? WWE owns the entire AWA library, including the ESPN show. They've put matches and segments from the ESPN show on several DVDs, and they once showed the AWA's ESPN debut show on Classics On Demand. ESPN, though, can re-air old shows they had years ago, including wrestling. They've been doing the same with Global recently, even though WWE bought that footage a few years ago, too.
