I'm wondering, since we're so close, what should the next witty subtitle of the WWE games thread should be?
"Stay Tuned" is good. Something with Supercard would be fun too.
Also, an on topic question: Do you think 2K went out with grand visions only to get stuck in the swamp that is THQ's like decade old code?

No in the sense that maybe they would have liked to create their own engine from scratch but having to meet a deadline as so many companies face these days it just wasn't practical. On the yes side of things, 2K has mentioned that they did rely on Yukes to break them into the wrestling genre, so it also makes sense that they would stick with a system that, while it has it's faults, is a pretty solid engine to tune, refine, and then re-imagine.

Why are they taking so damn long to reveal the roster. We all know Destiny will blow it out of the water but I would rather know who is in it before I preorder. 2K is very secretive and don't like to reveal much till just before the game comes out. That may work for their previous franchises, but the annual WWE games thrive on hype. They're creating zero hype.

Super Rare Eva Marie edition. Still wouldn't play it, even if I had it.

They're creating zero hype. Depends. This will probably be the best selling WWE title in a good while. Also 2k14 surpassed their expectations and they did a lot work on this one than that one, they're not worried much.

They're creating zero hype. I'm a patient boy I just want it to be good. The previous games thrived on hype because they needed you to believe that the games weren't inherently broken like last time.

This is the same company that beat the shit out of EA so bad, EA stopped making NBA games for a few years. 2K doesn't need to hype as much as THQ, because 2K let's the game speak for itself. I have faith that 2K will make an excellent game.

Hearing the old "The WWE Universe is letting him hear it" line kinda of killed my excitement. I'm getting the feeling that it's going to be the same old shit with a new coat of paint. Hope I'm wrong though.

Hearing the old "The WWE Universe is letting him hear it" line kinda of killed my excitement. I'm getting the feeling that it's going to be the same old shit with a new coat of paint. Hope I'm wrong though. They talked about the gameplay demo at SummerSlam on the Powerbombcast and they were saying that it's no way near done because it was outright broken (it was mentioned that Cole would say one line and repeat it less than a minute later). Other things they mentioned: - The early lock up minigame can be turned off in the menus. - Once your opponent is down about 25% of his stamina, the minigame no longer happens. So, if you just beat on your opponent with strikes for a while, you could entirely skip that part. - The first match of the 2K Showcase mode on Punk/Cena is Money in the Bank 2011 with virtual Vince and Big Johnny and it was hinted at that the part where Del Rio tries to cash in is also in it.

What would happen if they simply stopped with the extra game modes like the rivalries, attitude era etc... And focused more on the core gameplay itself? I personally don't care to relive any feuds. I'd rather leave all that crap out and give me more wrestlers, more match types and more gameplay.
Gimmicks, all they are. Still haven't touched attitude era.

Dropping Attitude Era and such, and this rivalries mode, I'd be completely okay with. Dropping Universe or any of the creation modes, I'll stick with what's already out. The gameplay doesn't bother me that much anyway, it's crap but it's crap I have fun with and play all the time.

So I've never played a WWE 2K game before, but I just pre-ordered 2K15. Sting sold it for me. Hope it's good. The last time I bought a WWE game I returned it because it was so bad. Day of Reckonging 2 is still my game of choice.

People here would complain that it doesn't have the features of the previous game and say they're not buying it this year and yadda yadda. The "features over gameplay" mentality has been crippling the series. The series can never really evolve because they apparently can't seem to go one game without bells and whistles(instead of, you know, playing the previous year's game. They're the f***ing same game, anyway.). The sad part is that with all the caw parts, create an arena, match types, create a story, I haven't touched WWE 13 in well over a year because the gameplay f***ing blows. I finished the crappy Attitude Era mode and haven't touched it since. I've actually played WWE All-Stars more despite it not having those "features" because the game itself is actually fun to play. If THQ had made a sequel to that game with all the features of the main games, I'd have been really happy. Instead, I get stuck saddled with mediocrity because everyone else is content with mediocrity as long as they can create stuff...

I'd really like to have a wrestling game that's actually fun to play again. But we can't go back to square one to fix the structure of the thing because everyone will complain that they can't make Goku like they did before or that the feature list on the back of the box is smaller.
