I know he did International Commentary in that time period but say he was healthy enough to continue working, what would Gorilla have done in that era?
He was no longer on-screen WWF President and Idk when his last on-screen appearance was outside of WM 15, but what role would he serve in the Attitude Era?
Would he be part of the Corporation or would he have tried to fight alongside Austin? Or would he just have taken over as PBP Commentator late in 1998 like Michael Cole did for J.R.?

I think if he were healthy he would either be transitioned to a backstage only role. Perhaps every now and then he would show up as a representative of the board of directors who could counteract evil Vince McMahon.

Sometime around 93 when he did on and off broadcasting appearences he was absolutely atrocious doing commentary. He shilled the product like JBL does now, it was unbearable.

Bobby Heenan jumps him during Raw and as security is pulling him out he screams "SEE ME AT RING OF HONOR!"

There used to be on youtube a battle royal from 1998 with monsoon doing very subtle heel commentary, so i suppose he'd be another one of vince's stooges (though it would be hard to get fans to boo him).

I imagine in 1997 he would chastise fans of Austin and Bret for not accepting that The Patriot is the man.

There used to be on youtube a battle royal from 1998 with monsoon doing very subtle heel commentary When the WWF moved Superstars from syndication to USA Network in Sept. 1996, they started producing two very different versions of the shows. The North American version was hosted by Jim Ross and Jim Cornette, who called the show as if were actually happening on Sunday morning (with lots of plugs/mentions of USA and the next night's Raw), and the international version was hosted by Kevin Kelly and Gorilla, who was still WWF President at the time. Here's a video of Kevin and Gorilla calling an Undertaker/Goon match. It's a little awkward as Ross and Cornette appear on-screen during the segment. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQxCfiU9qfg

Honestly not much (even if his health wasn't failing at time) as judging by his commentary on superstars it was obvious that he really didn't give a shit anymore.

I mean, the unseen ref bump and awkward as hell cut. Did it air like that?!

Another factor was Bobby Heenan leaving in 1993. Monsoon just didn't have the same chemistry with anybody else.

However, i will admit that near the end of his run on commentary (94-95), he sounded more grumpy (constantly getting angry at the referees for example) and obviously didnt want to be there. They probably made him "president" as both a reward for years of service and a way for him to be on camera without having to be at every show. Here's an example of what i was talking about : www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSXsfvgsDoM

It was for the best that he was gone by the time Attitude really kicked off. Gorilla's thing was that he was always the voice of calm and sanity -- no one ever really got the better of him. In the era of Russo storylines, he almost certainly would have been turned into a fuddyduddy, ruining everything people loved about him. It would have been uncomfortable. I would not have enjoyed watching DX telling him to suck it, or hearing him try to analyze Terri Runnels' fake pregnancy and miscarriage or talk about the Ho Train.
