The first half of that episode is from WCW's high quality, master tape of the show while the second half, which includes the Eaton match, is from a fan's VHS copy that was likely ripped from YouTube. Either the cut was there when WWE got that copy or they edited it because Eaton's music started to play and replacing the music would make whatever he said inaudible. That explains a lot. At the beginning of the episode there is one of those bumpers (not sure what to call them) saying the episode is presented in the best quality possible. The first half looks normal, but about halfway through the episode the audio and video quality takes a noticeable dive. It looks and sounds like VHS quality. The entire Dec. 25, 1993 episode of SN is a VHS rip on WWE Network with the TBS logo even appearing on screen at some points. What is odd, though, is that The Shockmaster segment from that episode is on WWE YouTube's channel in high quality.

"I LOVE CHRIS BENOIT!!!!!" (well they DID form a tag team earlier that year) That's really what Bobby said into the camera? I believe it. I remember their short lived team earlier that year. Nah, I was being sarcastic of course.

The May 19th, 1986 episode of Prime Time seems to have an edit at the very end of the episode as Monsoon is signing off. It's a really weird cut. I'm wondering if Heenan had a clever one liner as he signed off that was deemed offensive?

July 6th 1986 Prime Time Wrestling. Sounds like the Crush Gals theme is dubbed over.
Also The Prime Time theme itself when they come back from commercial breaks sounds like a dub.
*Edit* it seems as if they can't figure out if the team name is the Crush Gals or Crush Girls. Their graphic said Crush Gals, but they're repeatedly referred to as Crush Girls.

I believe during 1985-86, they played real music during those, so yeah, it's definitely been replaced.

They also changed the original theme in general to the one used starting 1988 or 1989. They did a remake of the 1988-1991 theme for one of the "WWE Uncaged" digital albums and inserted it into 1986-87 episodes. For some reason, the later 1987 episodes and the January-May 1988 episodes have the unedited show intro. Original 1988-1991 PTW intro music: www.youtube.com/watch?v=j11KcOmldwIUncaged remake:

Their syndicated show was still using Thriller at this time, right?

On the August 4th 1986 Prime Time there's a segment shown from TNT with Studd, Heenan and Okerlund. Heenan and Okerlund have a verbal interaction that is edited out with the same effect that they use to edit curse words out of songs on the radio. I would love to know what was said here as it got a decent laugh from the live studio audience.

I tried to find anything that's not a Network, Classics, etc. copy but have yet to do so. I guess it was in the original broadcast because WWE usually just mutes out offending parts. (Maybe if you record the line, then play it backwards, you'll get the missing word?) EDIT: Given the context, assume it was BS or the full word.

At a ppv, it was The Wyatt Family vs. Roman, Ambrose, and a mystery partner. Before Jericho is announced, a fan runs in and acts like he's the mystery partner. Bray says "Is that your guy?"
This is edited out.

On the Sept. 15, 2023 Smackdown, the segment with The Rock, Pat Mcafee, and Austin Theory is still censored but not like it was on TV. Instead of muting the sound, whenever the audience says "an asshole," generic crowd noise is put over them. It sounds like.....
One side: "You are..." Other side: "(crowd noise)!"
The Rock is also censored whenever he says it but him saying "a-hole" isn't.

On the August 18th, 1986 Prime Time, Terry Funk's entire ass is pixelated out during an absolute barnburner of a match with Pedro Morales. I know Terry's ass should be pixelated, but I know for a fact I've seen Rick Rude and Ric Flair's bare asses on the Network. Also this is by far the best Pedro match I've ever seen. Although in fairness the only Pedro matches I've seen were his JTTS work late in his career.

Good match also and they were keeping Funk strong as a competitor to feud with Hogan and JYD.

I believe most of which turned up on various Coliseum Videos.

On the September 30th, 1986 Prime Time episode Cousin Luke's entrance theme is dubbed over. I'm assuming he used Hillbilly Jim's, Country Boy as a theme.

On the October 21st 1986 Prime Time, 28 seconds of Sheila E's, A Love Bizarre instrumental is left intact following a Paul Roma/SD Jones victory over two job guys.
There's an episode of Prime Time that I watched last week that left about 30 seconds in of another really well-known song from the time. I can't remember what song it was now. I was going to make mention of it at the time and I got sidetracked.
I watched episodes of All American Wrestling and Championship Wrestling from 1986 on YouTube a few days ago. The WWF was not shy about using popular music back then. Copyright laws were obviously much more lenient at the time.

Copyright laws were obviously much lenient at the time. It's not the laws themselves that were lenient as much as record companies saw any use of their music on television as free publicity. This got heavily cracked down on in the 2000s, culminating with even MTV having to start paying for each song/video played in 2008.
