Cena's the poster child of babyfaces who get shit on by live crowds, but I'm struggling to recall instances of him receiving this level of sheer antipathy.
The two definites that come to mind are at One Night Stand II against RVD and at MitB 2011 against Punk, and both those were against antiheroes specifically being played up as badass alternatives to Cena's straight-laced, do-gooder image.

I think the difference is, the fans see Batista as an interloper stealing the main event slot from Bryan or Punk.
People are sick of the same shit we saw 8 years ago now.
The Cena hate never felt personal, it's personal with old Dave.

Has a crowd ever turned on anyone as bad as Big Dave? I don't think I've ever seen it.

I dunno, Cena gets some brutal crowd reactions in smarkier towns. Although Dave seems to get more X-Pac heat than heel heat.

He could probably help himself by working more to the heel side of things when those chants happen. Instead he does his normal shit to a chorus of complaint. Though at whatever Mania he was at, when he won the title, mugging with the dude in a "we hate Cena" shirt or whatever, that was pretty cool.

These days, the "Cena hate" almost seems to be done in good fun. Many (most) of the Cena "haters" don't actively dislike the guy. They get that he's passionate about the business, loves what he does, and is just a company guy.
Batista seems to be massive levels of pure venom. Want a performer hated the way that Batista is? I submit G.G. Allin.

Cena got the smarkiest of Madison Square Garden smarks to cheer his rumble return even if they soon realised they should be booing.
Batista is so hated he helped the crowd turn on the rumble itself. That's the Royal Rumble, a match so beloved and so ingrained into WWE mythology that it's been one of the cornerstones of the company for a quarter of a century.
So in conclusion Cena has never been booed as bad as Batista.

So in conclusion Cena has never been booed as bad as Batista. I don't know, Cena got it worse at One Night Stand 2. The differences between Cena and Batista, is that the crowd reaction doesn't knock Cena off his game, and at ONS, Cena had that crowd in the palm of his hand. The crowd hated him, and Cena played to that and f***ed with them. Batista when he went to Hammerstein got pissed that the crowd didn't like him. Although the Mania crowd is going to be worse for Batista, than ONS was for Cena. Like has been said, the booing of Batista just seems like so much hate. The reactions for Cena seem to be in some fun, and the crowd at least is invested in what Cena does, and will cheer him.

He got pretty bad reactions in 2005 especially with his matches against Angle and Jericho.

Bingo. Cena at that point was loathed because it was "Screw the guys you're cheering for, LOVE HIM!" Jericho couldn't get him cheered, Angle tried everything to get Cena cheered, and it didn't work. Hell, even Triple H who blasted Angle for not being a "good enough heel" wound up just going face during the match with Cena since nobody would cheer him at that point. Dave, though, that's something special. It'd be like if, after Lesnar/Goldberg the crowd turned on Mania 20.

Cena from Mid 2005 to WM23 had some pretty venomous hate. It wasn't till after his feud with The Great Khali that people started to warm up to Cena because they were like holy shit Cena carried The Great Khali into two decent matches! Plus he wasn't really feuding with crowd favorites and was feuding with the likes of Khali, Lashley, and Orton which cooled down the hate.

I submit G.G. Allin. Yeah even though he's never gonna get that 100 percent cheers like other faces, he's got that unique "Let's Go Cena/Cena Sucks" thing that now just seems like a fun thing to do as well as support for Cena. It's all just apart of the show now, no one hates the guy at all. And the "lol five moves SuperCena" is just kinda old hat these days. Of course it was hate in the beginning, but not now. Batista's heat is "man we f***ing hate this guy we want Daniel Bryan to be WWE Champ not you go the f*** away". There's no sense of this being an ironic chant or just a fun thing to do, it's pure hate like ONS 2 Cena, and Bats has none of Cena's ability to play to the crowd at all.

Given all the snide, self-serving bullsh*t Batista's pulled over the years - the rants about PG era WWE, the Divas stuff, the sense of wounded self-entitlement he carries around like a shroud - it's a lot harder to forgive his in-ring shortcomings. A lot harder.

ECW, MITB '11 and a few over seas ones I think. As for Batista...I feel bad for him. It's not his fault the company is ran by a bunch of idiots who refuse to listen to their customers. If this were any other time...he wouldn't be getting this hate. This whole thing is a mess for him and Orton too. I don't know how in the hell they'll ever turn him babyface again. They will try but...it will be hard. As for the Cena matches I think those are about it.

I think that ONS2 and maybe MITB 11 shouldn't count since Cena was booked as "the heel" on both cases. Or at least wasn't the top face unlike Batista who is supposed to be the face

Cena has not gotten the pure venom that Batista is getting now. The reason for that is while the hatred for Cena (even at One Night Stand 2) was never personally against him, it was against the company shoving him down our throats.
The hatred for Batista and the undeserved spot he has gotten, is absolutely personal because they just hate the guy and obviously showing that he does not have the endurance at this juncture to get such a spot. Batista barely was able to last in his squash of Del Rio at Elimination Chamber, the fact that the Mania main event will demand at least 20+ minutes spells absolute bad news for Batista right now.

The booing of Cena just seems like a cool thing to do, once he does something awesome everyone goes wild. Its fun to not like Cena at moments.
Batista...he's just sucking. Its not let's boo him for heel heat. Its let's boo him because this is straight up crap. Until Mania passes I don't think Bats will be able to shake it either.
