They need to make the "NWA" spin.

Hopefully they will get rid of it and debut a new belt when Joe wins it.

I don't get this whole thing about how the NWA belt isn't "prestigious" anymore. Yeah, it's had some crap booking, but the fact is that is the F***ING NWA TITLE. Yeah, it's had it's dark days, but that title actually stills means something just because of the history behind it. Yeah TNA technically isn't in the NWA anymore, but they have use of it's belt, and the fact that it's on such a big platform again makes it prestigious once more.
Hell, I wouldn't scoff if I was given the NWA title.

A few facts that have been stated here are incorrect:
-The belt is a copy of the Harley Race/Dusty Rhodes/Ric Flair (first three reigns) belt. It is NOT the same belt, which is actually owned by Harley Race. (They gave it to him when Flair started using the Big Gold Belt ) Unless they bought it from him, it's not the same one.
-WWE's World title is supposed to actually be the WCW title. If you remember, at the end of the Invasion, Vince McMahon went on TV and said that the letters "WCW" would never be heard again and that the belts would be referred to as the "World Titles".
-The NWA title was defended in WCW for a while, but then WCW pulled out of the NWA. The NWA declared their title vacant. WCW renamed their belt the "WCW International Belt" and eventually merged it with the real WCW title belt.
-TNA is a part of the NWA, which has been around for 80 years or so...unlike WWE, they aren't just going to make up their own belt and have someone defend it. They thought that this would bring credibility from long time wrestling fans, and it has up to a point.

Hell, I wouldn't scoff if I was given the NWA title. I wouldn't scoff if I was given five bucks, I still wouldn't call it the most prestigious bank note in the history of currency. A belt managing to survive for a long time is neat, it doesn't, for me anyway, give it instant doubleplus prestigious. Consistent booking does that and due to the nature of the business, the NWA title hasn't been given any of that lovin' in years.
