Not since Fandangoing has WWE so effectively stripped the fans of something and flipped it to seem like a WWE accepted phenomenon. It really was awe-inspiring to see, though, I feel they really overestimated the impact the whole hijacking thing ultimately had. I mean like...a few people said NO when Bryan asked for the match with Hunter, and other than the Vickie heat Stephanie was getting, that was it.
But still though, WWE stole the hijacking gimmick, brother. That and the Heyman start shows that they really knew how to handle the situation.

From a corporate/tv show viewpoint, WWEs handling of this was fantastic.

From a corporate/tv show viewpoint, WWEs handling of this was fantastic. As someone hoping for a CM Punk return & for the authority to get their smarm rubbed in their faces (they are good and selling smarmy heel, like it not) I am inclined to agree. That said, the way they "handled" the Punk aspects of it leaves the door open to continue to hope it's all a work...doubtful, but the way Heyman played the whole thing really was a thing of beauty.

The fact that he was acknowledged on air for the first time by, of all people, Paul Heyman, leads me to think that this isn't a work, but some kind of an agreement has been reached.

If they were smart, and judging by how they handled last night, they are, they should develop this hijack idea into a means of trying get get the live crowds as pumped and loud as possible. say they started stating that they had a crowdometer(TM) to measure how loud a crowd was and say that the loudest crowd of each year would be rewarded down the line with a major show at that arena or something they could turn something from what could have been a negative into a massive positive.

They had more than enough time to work out a strategy and it's not like they haven't run a show in front of a tough crowd before. When they struggle is when a crowd turns on a show out of the blue - they would have known well in advance Chicago was going to want to crap on their show the whole night if it could.
The Stephanie booing was some of the loudest sustained booing I have heard in a long time. That was the highlight for me. Plus the general lack of obvious enthusiasm for a HHH v Bryan match at wrestlemania. Would have also preferred if there was a mass back turning on her and HHH when they spoke. I don't think they would have expected that.

They took something that made their shows look stupid and made it their own thing. From now on when those asshole crowds do it to be assholes then they are doing it cause we told them to. It either stops or it stays the same and wwe takes credit. Handled it magnificently.

I do think its strange that after ignoring the CM Punk chants for so long they sent Heyman out there to kind of address it, but the Cole/JBL still pretty much ignored it wholesale.

I'm disapointed to learn there wasn't a Randy Savage chant at Stephanie. That's how I know there was no hijacking. Come on people.

The way people were talking about this hijacking I imagined a crowd of people chanting "Chris Benoit" for three hours.
Instead the fans acted pretty much like they were supposed to. They cheered, they booed, they chanted. Yeah, they chanted for Punk more than anyone else, but it was a bit of a toothless tiger "revolt."

Yeah in hindsight, people over-exaggerated/over-hyped how the Chicago crowd would behave.

It's almost as though wrestling fans have a tendency to blow things out of proportion. And I'm talking about both sides on this. Yeah, it is a bit ridiculous to have a "manifesto" about what to do and what to chant at a wrestling show. At the same time, people in the Raw thread wouldn't shut up about it, going "lol so these are the hijackers. Man do they suck!"

They didn't chant for Alex Riley. Riley's mother wouldn't chant for Alex Riley.

The crowd did alter the show in a way though. They booked the first hour of the show at a blistering pace, first acknowledging the CM Punk chants for the first time since he left, giving us a long-awaited title win for the Usos, pretty much confirming the Real Americans split, and giving us the Shield/Wyatts again for free. WWE's want to not get hijacked made them book differently than they normally would.

Too bad I decided not to go to RAW next week. Part of it is because they were already here in Memphis which I did go to, and the other is because of how hard it was for me to get any chant going. I would love for #HijackRAW to continue because the hotter the crowds get the more better the show is.
And regardless what WWE actually has planned for Bryan, I do believe if the crowds could stay as hot as Chicago, than Bryan would face Orton and Batista.

They certainly did plan for this contingency and, hate to say it, it worked. Trolling off the bat, letting the crowd get CM Punk out of their system in the first five minutes and then hitting them with an hour of super-quality stuff before it started going south, they pretty much drained the energy out of a lot of the dissenters, converted a good few and made the majority forget what they were protesting. By the time they finally put Emma and Santino out there, the crowd didn't have the willpower to keep going as hard as they had at the beginning.
Now if only this would kick them in the ass and make them put this kind of energy into every show...
