I watched this episode on TLC - insanely depressing at times. She ate nothing but fast food, and in HUGE quantities, and couldn't understand why she was overweight.
She was forced into the hospital so they could monitor her diet and force her to lose weight. Guess what? She snuck in fast food then, too and gained more weight.
It taught me something very important - some people refuse to change. Dying because of how overweight you are? Doc says to cut out unhealthy food? Hell, better just eat MORE of it then blame something else.

It blows my mind how someone can allow themselves to get THAT big. I very rarely eat 1,000 calories in a day, so I can't imagine eating 7,000.
I mean, don't get me wrong, junk food is great. But it seems to me like living would be a bit more tempting.

I love that show. She was set up for failure by her family though they just kept giving her fast food all day, every day.

Is Fast Food really cheap in the States or something?

Is Fast Food really cheap in the States or something? Let me check McDonalds menu and try to get to 7000 calories in some semblance of reason. 2 Big Macs at 550 x2 = 1100 2 at Large fries 500x2= 1000 Large Coke is 28 oz and at 17.5 cals per oz you get 490 x2 for 980 So we're at 3080. So two meals of that you're at 6000 plus. And I assume you can get Mac, Fries and Soda for 6-7 bucks so about 24-28 bucks altogether.

There's also places like Little Cesar's where it's only $5.00 for a pizza.

I was gonna bring up Hot n Ready, you beat me to it. I think grocery stores are a great way to get a lot of calories, stuff like snack cakes, ice cream, chips, etc.

I appreciate how hard it must be to lose weight-but I find I often have zero sympathy for these kind of stories. To me it is no different than being a drug addict; you either cowboy up and change your ways for the sake of those you I've and yourself-or you just go on killing yourself. Just don't whine and moan about how hard you have it if that is what you choose.

I remember watching a few episodes of my 600 pound life. Two in particular that struck me was one where the woman actually did keep the weight off, but still had issues where her legs still had a lot of excess skin, which hopefully she got some help with that. Another one was where the woman actually ended up dying.
I used to date this girl who was overweight. Later on after we broke up, she ended up getting pregnant, having a kid, and ended up losing 150 pounds, and still has it off to this day, to the point where the government of the province she's currently living in will pay for the surgery to remove excess skin. She's married now, and last I heard, was still doing very well. She's a very inspirational person, and like, it can be done.

But, let's be real, an addict of any kind (and clearly a lady like this has addiction qualities) has something really wrong with the way they're functioning, whether it's brain chemistry or whatever, allowing them to make obviously terrible choices.

Addicts willfully seek out enablers-they don't want to be around people who will say no. This woman's family are blatant enablers.

I love how Ghidorah made a spoiler tag for a close up sized up image of the thumbnail. Like f*** I don't know why it's funny but it is. Maybe it's because it's completely awful and completely unnecessary.

Eating fast food daily is far more expensive than just going grocery shopping.
Her diet of fast food easily exceeds $1,000/month

She's a pig, and I'm not even referring to her weight. She wants to lose weight as long as it takes absolutely zero effort on her part.
I go to a gym and around this time of year I see a bunch of overweight people come in and bust their asses to try to drop weight. People who aren't selfish and realize it takes effort to improve yourself deserve applause. People like this should just be ignored until they kill themselves through their bad behaviors.

While I don't completely disagree with you, having watched the show, this woman has no idea what anything even resembling healthy eating or a healthy lifestyle is. Her diet has consisted of fast food for virtually her entire life. That said what I don't get is when one gets to a certain weight I would imagine that they would want to lose some weight long before they got to the point of loss of mobility and once she got to that point, I don't understand why her family kept making fast food runs for her. I wouldn't be surprised if she was qualifying for disability based on her weight, solely based on the fact that neither her mother or husband work and are full time caregivers for her. All of that said, she did start to make some progress as the episode went on and she lost a bunch of weight.
