Any fans of Hopsin here? I started hearing him when I made a Rap God station on Pandora. After a few months, he's quickly become one of my favorites out there! Ill Mind of Hopsin 4 is a great, fun listen and Ill Mind 5 has a GREAT message and reminds me of some of my wife's brothers (as far as the first verse goes).
Anyone have opinions on him?! I don't know any other Hopsin fans so I was hoping to get some other insight on him, or at least introduce some new fans to him.

I'm a huge fan. I started listening shortly after he dropped the Raw album. Aside from the songs you've mentioned, my favorites include Pillow Man, Nocturnal Rainbows, Skreem (with ICP and Tech N9ne) and The Lucifer Effect to name a few. Funk Volume as a label is damn good. Swizzz, Dizzy Wright and Jarren Benton are all equally capable rappers I think.

I like a couple of his songs. Hop is back and nocturnal rainbows are my favorites.

Ill Mind of Hopsin 4, 5, & 6 are fantastic but I'm not the biggest fan in the world. Dude is corny as hell. He's got bars but he tries way too hard to put over this image of being a dark demon.

A friend showed me one of the Ill Mind tracks a few years ago - not sure which one it was but it was the one where he dissed Tyler.
I really liked it. Always been meaning to check out some more of his material but for whatever reason never got around to it.

He's alright.....but I prefer listening his protege Swizzz.

I have a hard time getting into him. He has a stellar ear for beats, but his flows liberally borrow from his influences past the point of comfort for me, his "pointed" songs like the "Ill Mind of Hopsins" strike me as morality lectures from somebody who's supposed to be insane, and his "I'm crazy" songs suffer from too much telling and not enough showing.
I know plenty of people whose tastes I respect that are into him, this thread included, and I'd love to be proven wrong about him, but I just have a hard time listening to a former "That's So Raven" cast-member who thinks glow-in-the-dark contact lenses are a solid investment tell me how I should live my life.
Can anybody suggest some tracks for me? I've only heard the "ill Mind of Hopsins" and the Gazing at the Moonlight album,

I'm not sure I've heard Dizzy Wright yet, but I DO like Swizzz, tho his voice can be slightly grating sometimes, especially in How Do You Like Me Now. I found that after I watched some of the music videos rather than just listening to the songs on Pandora that I started to like him more, with some of his little movements and quirks he does. Sag My Pants was just ok for me until I caught the video, then it became a favorite.
The Ill Minds and Chris Dolmeth are what really turned me on to him, so if those didn't do it for you, I'm still new to him so I'm not sure what will.

I know technically it's a Tech N9ne song, but I liked him quite a bit on Am I A Psycho? (Thanks to Cageking for introducing me to that one.)

I've only heard the "ill Mind of Hopsins" and the Gazing at the Moonlight album, Nocturnal Rainbows (although, that gets kinda preachy at the end too), Hop is Back, and Tears to Snow are all solid-good tracks, I think. Hell, his latest album, Knock Madness, is really solid as a whole. I do agree that his "morality" raps come off as awkward. He's trying to portray himself as this dark, devil-worshipping rapper but then turns around and condemns drinking and smoking. Like what?

He's a straight edge rapper with horrorcore influences, his style makes sense to me. I don't buy into his image and all that, I just think he's a really dope rapper. Raw was a damn good album and Knock Madness is really nice. I have my problems with some of Hopsin's characteristics, but as an emcee he's very ill IMO.
That said, Jarren Benton is my favorite on the label. He's the total opposite of Hop in terms of character. I DO believe it's a character, because there's no way someone on that many drugs could be alive.

I like him quite a bit. Got into him thanks to The Rap Critic and Ill Mind 4 and 5.

First the Drake and my disater attempt at a joke in a thread I started last week, and Hopsin, what is about rappers, that some of them have the same names as Seinfeld characters.

To me, Hop's a decent rapper who can't write a song for anything. His whole style is just cornball to me, and not in the Drake way.
