This. If you could combine Triple H's natural abilities with the performer mindset of a Jericho/Foley who in their 40s cares more about positioning wrestling's future stars than their own 'legacy', you'd have one of the greatest of all time. I get what you are going for but I think Jericho and Foley not giving a damn about their "legacy", doing jobs and being willing to put over anyone with a pulse stops them from getting anyone over nowadays. There needs to be a balance and I don't think any of them (Jericho, Foley or Hunter) know where it is. Though he is often too overpowered, I think Cena can be a good example of how to do it right. He's put over his fair share of people in decisive fashion, usually makes anyone who faces him look good even when he does win (though the writers never follow up on it), gets beaten down constantly, and yet he wins enough and is impressive enough when he does lose he still feels like an unstoppable beast where if the person who just beat him were to face him again, you're positive they'd lose.

I think HHH is an amazing performer, but his lack of showing any sort of vulnerability in the ring and his promos devaluing his opponents is the true primary reasons many cannot stand him. I know it is called HHHate around here, but those two reasons I just listed are the source of many fans' sour opinions of the wrestling character known as Triple H. For a guy who grew up watching the NWA and Ric Flair, I wish he would take Flair's philosophy of making his opponent look great.
If you go back and listen to Flair's promos back then, even as a heel, he was complimentary of his opponent in some fashion and he made them look like a million bucks in the ring. It is not rocket science to realize in wrestling that making both wrestlers look good helps the fans tune in and emotionally invest in the product. As much crap as Hogan takes in many places, he did at least make his opponent look like a threat. HHH acts like he is the Terminator in the ring and he also has to be the coolest guy in the world and never get one upped by anybody. That is the negative about his in-ring work and it is a shame because he could easily change his demeanor if his ego can ever get out of the way.

Oh...so we're just throwing "tremendous" around like it means nothing now? Is it the new "awesome?" This is a joke right? 'Tremendous' is not overused, particularly amongst young people who only ever use two adjectives: 'amazing' (ugh) and 'awesome'. Noone I know in real life ever says 'tremendous', practically noone on TV says it. People just say 'amazing', which is a word I never use ever, and 'awesome', which is a word I use in a very limited context. As silly as it sounds I try to use a variety of adjectives because it grates on my so much when people just use the aforementioned two.

Had Foley stopped at one of numerous other points in his career, though, he would've been much better at it. Both Jericho and Foley have kept on jobbing for too long now. Had Foley just gone in 2006, he would've solidified his legacy - Jericho if he had not come back in 2012, he would have as well. Instead they both have just put too many people over.

Last week's "they're saying it's your turn" really reminded me of how great of a heel he is.

He's so good at being HHH it's hard to know much about Paul. Almost everybody thinks he really is the character.

Do you guys think Stephanie being back on television with him gave him back what he was missing post-quad, as far as heeling goes? It's possible, he does always work best with someone to work with, Chyna, DX, Stephanie, the the Facgeme, Evolution.

The one thing i can praise him for, and im a massive hater of Hunter, is that he has a huge passion for the business and he loves what he does. He can be an incredible heel when he wants to be. Its hard to see his good points when a lot of the time he does so much to benefit himself and his buddies.

I call the guy Asterix because his legacy will always be overshadowed by who he married. Shame because he is actually is good at what he does. Then Obelix would be , Show or Henry lol (it was coming , deal with it....chuckles)

I feel like anyone who says that HHH isn't a gifted performer is delusional. It's his ego that runs patience thin. They said the same thing about Bruce Lee , big ego but certainly gifted.

Despite his ego, he's one of the best heels in wrestling history, if not THE best. Not really. Dixie Carter is a better heel than him right now. Wanna know why? She actually lets herself look vulnerable or wrong.

He's good at getting people to hate him, but I'm not sure that makes him a great heel as there's more to it than that. The job of a heel in wrestling is to make the face look good as they're the guy the audience are paying to see, but that's something that he's failed at time and time again because he refuses to come off second best at the end of a feud, and when the bad guy wins, even in defeat, the audience lose interest and drift away.

I think Triple H has been the perfect heel recently.
He has blurred real life with kayfabe and has people legitimately hating and believing aspects of his character.
You only have to read this board to realise that. He knows what the internet thinks of him and knows the easiest way to get heat is to play up to that.
He does lots of subtle things such as holding up the clique sign during promos.

I just meant the OP seemed to be using big time hyperbole when discussing HHH's acting abilities, not that "tremendous" is overused.

I love his look, his gear, his entrance. There's no doubt that he knows what he's doing in the ring. Like many, I just hate his massive ego.
