I know his ego ruins him in the eyes of many fans, especially on the internet, but damn the guy is good. I'm not even talking about his in-ring work, which I have always liked. I mean how good he is at inhabiting a character, especially this COO character.
He's just brilliant at it. Watch his interviews with Cole (who also deserves a lot of credit) and the guy is so convincing. Monday night on RAW he really really sold the Bryan segment well. He started off basically laughing it as an idle threat. Then got more heated, and then went hilariously over the top, ripped off his suit jacket and charged at Bryan, shouting and hollering.
The guy is a brilliant, fantastic heel. If he loses to Bryan at Wrestlemania than this whole build, whether WWE did it all intentionally or not, will have been great.
Anyone agree?

During this past month, Triple H has given me visions of how he was from 99-04. I can't even tell you how much I hated Triple H then. I remember being going to school and still being pissed off at the things he did on Raw throughout the whole day waiting for Smackdown to come on. He was that great of a heel. Lately his COO character is bringing back those same vibes. How mannerisms, actions and especially his voice. Notice how when he was pissed at Bryan his voice went up. He sounded exactly the same as he did back then and it's perfect. The guy plays an amazing heel and he truly makes you want to kick his ass.
Bryan better not lose though, I mean it would be horrible. However I do expect Triple H to destroy Bryan after that match though. Bryan looks like more of an underdog and Triple H keeps being a major heel. It would be perfect.

I feel like anyone who says that HHH isn't a gifted performer is delusional. It's his ego that runs patience thin.

Despite his ego, he's one of the best heels in wrestling history, if not THE best.

I feel like anyone who says that HHH isn't a gifted performer is delusional. It's his ego that runs patience thin. This. If you could combine Triple H's natural abilities with the performer mindset of a Jericho/Foley who in their 40s cares more about positioning wrestling's future stars than their own 'legacy', you'd have one of the greatest of all time.

Triple H is an all-time great. But years of poor booking, combined with the fact that he's been prominently featured literally from the day I started watching (and that was sixteen years ago), means I could live without ever seeing him on my TV again.

He's a fantastic wrestler, he's great at most things.
But he's been around forever and is stale as all hell. He also plays a terrible good guy.

I had always had Ric Flair as my all time favorite with HHH being second but HHH has moved into the position of my all time favorite.

Do you guys think Stephanie being back on television with him gave him back what he was missing post-quad, as far as heeling goes?

I get what you are going for but I think Jericho and Foley not giving a damn about their "legacy", doing jobs and being willing to put over anyone with a pulse stops them from getting anyone over nowadays. There needs to be a balance and I don't think any of them (Jericho, Foley or Hunter) know where it is.

No doubt about it. As shoe-horned as he is into EVERYTHING and how massive of an ego he has, the dude can definitely go with the best of them.
I'll still never forget sitting at home and watching in horror as he completely destroyed William Regal back in 2004. One of the very few moments that made me feel very uncomfortable.

I call the guy Asterix because his legacy will always be overshadowed by who he married. Shame because he is actually is good at what he does.

Oh...so we're just throwing "tremendous" around like it means nothing now? Is it the new "awesome?"
Hesy great at what he does, for sure, but only slightly better than average for a guy who probably gets to write his own stuff.
