The answer may surprise you. This was designed for purely one-on-one matches, where every match the champion has is a title match. Multi-man matches are banned (though there's an alternative line for that on the site), and the champion has to defend their title within a year, otherwise it's moved onto the real life champion (again, an alternate line with no defence window is included on the site). Even if the champion leaves the WWE, if he wrestles elsewhere and loses, the title change counts here. www.voicesofwrestling.com/2014/03/12/who-is-the-reigning-linear-wwe-champion/

I love that the version with multi-man matches included leads to the same result.

That's almost like the set up for a joke. I did not see that coming.

The funny thing about all this is that Randy Savage was never champion under this system.

Anything that gives The Godfather, Lance Storm, and HuniCara a WWE Title reign is cool with me.

Unlike the Brooklyn Brawler, I don't think I've ever seen a reference to HHH losing to the Godfather in 2000.

I figured it was only a matter of time before someone makes a wrestling version of the NBA championship belt. This is great.

Did Del Rio seriously beat Batista? And it wasn't a DQ or countout?
I konw the site makes a joke about nobody remembering this - but I honestly am completely blanking on this point.

It was the night after Elimination Chamber - Randy Orton came out, and Batista got distracted. ADR then rolled him up and pinned him.

So basically if Kofi hadnt have beaten Orton on that Raw 2 months ago then this "linear" championship nonsense would be the same as the actual title anyway?
Also this guy clearly takes wrestling too serious. He goes on about how Triple Threat matches are the worse thing to happen to wrestling because the champion can lose by not being pinned. Bit of an over exaggeration, any thing that adds another storytelling device is a good thing imho.

Orton's music hit to distract Dave, Del Rio rolled him up for three. I think it happened the night after the Chamber, I don't recall the date too clearly.

This was honestly awesome, and to an extent, I agree with the guy. It would be interesting if the champ had to defend the title in every singles match he competed.

I agree that nontile matches are fairly stupid, but the part about multi-man matches is the definition of taking wrestling too seriously. Come on now.
This was fun anyway. Seeing the random champions that started popping up was pretty great. I'm very happy for D-Von Dudley.
