At the end of April I'm trying out for a show, in my community theater, and I wanted to know is the song Stars over used for that sort of thing?

Stars by Hearin' Aid ? I'm guessing it's not overused at all.

Yeah, there's quite a few songs called Stars as it turns out. Can we get an Artist on that?

Nah, that'd probably be one of the lesser used ones compared to I Dreamed a Dream.

Nah, that'd probably be one of the lesser used ones compared to I Dreamed a Dream. Nah, I Dreamed a Dream would usually be used by women, Stars by male voices, so they'd likely sort them differently. There's a chance it'd be considered overused; I recall trying out some place a handful of years ago where they had a list of tunes they weren't looking to hear at the auditions, and I THINK Stars was on the list...pity, since Javert is basically my dream role and I could sing the tune in my sleep. Still, I doubt it'd be a big issue. It's mostly about how you use your voice and how you carry yourself, I don't think picking a popular tune would disqualify you in a case like this.

Kind of hard finding another good audition song when you're a Bass-Baritone.

You could always do Javert's Suicide from Les Mis.
