I kind of saw this coming. All the Quizno's in KC have closed down. They were doomed when Subway started toasting their subs as well.
Sad, that was an awesome commercial they had back in the day.

Yeah, a lot of the Quiznos closed around here.
I think their biggest problem was that their sandwiches were pretty expensive, especially for fast food. And the food quality wasn't much better than a Subway or a Blimpee to really justify that expense.

I used to love eating there about 2-3 years ago, but the cost kept going up and the quality dropped a lot.
If they could lower the prices to be comparable to Subway I think they'd be fine.

Amazing that they went from such a major entity, to basically dropping off the map overnight. Too bad something like this can't happen to Wal-Mart.

I enjoy Quiznos. Their subs are typically just a bit better than Subway.
Why do I never eat at Quiznos? Their subs are only a bit better and a fair bit more expensive then Subway's.

I think over-franchising may have affected the quality of the foods, if that's possible. For instance, the Quizno's in Rosedale, Minnesota I go to when I'm home (been around for 11 years, a family who has always run the franchise has been very, very kind to me) has excellent ingredients. The tuna is pure and the steak is tender.
However, all the Quizno's I've gone to in New York have the black angus steak as wet, glorified roast beef and the tuna as some runny, creamy mess.
I didn't mind paying extra for Quizno's when it legit tasted and satisfied $2.00-$3.00 better, but with so many actual sandwich shops in NYC, why waste my time?

I just noticed on Thursday that the one over here had gone out of business. What was more surprising is that it was taken over by the people who own the "Puerto Rican cuisine" place in the same plaza and turned into a "fish and subs" place.

First WSX, and now WSX's favorite sandwich sponsor.
Cue the gif of Tyler Black and Jimmy Jacobs eating 3 day old Quiznos sandwiches.

I've never had Quizno's (though I am a big Subway guy) but given how it went from having constant ads to basically not being mentioned anymore, not too surprising. Also I can't be the only one whose mind immediately went to where the URL says "farticle," right?

Really funny how people I know not from the internet told me many times that Quiznos was decent, but not good enough to justify the price. Lo and behold, what are people in this thread saying? The same exact thing. Not surprised. The Quiznos' in my area closed down a while ago. Subway was way cheaper, and if you wanted a good sub, that wasn't hard to come by with all the Greek and Italian American pizza and sub shops all around the city.
It's the same reason why Burger King has had so much trouble recently. They're better than McDonald's but more expensive. But Wendy's, which is a little more expensive than Burger King, is way better. If people want cheap burgers, they're not going to Burger King; they're going to McD's. If they want good fast food burgers, then Wendy's is going to be the restaurant of choice.
Middle of the road quality doesn't work unless you're on the side of quality. Chipotle's no match for an authentic taqueria but they're also far and away better than fast food Mexican restaurants, so they prosper. Marketing's not that complicated. Too many businessmen are dumb.

I miss the one near me. I loved their sandwiches and I was always willing to pay more. I've just never been a fan of Subway.
