Another important thing about shows is, if you have a great crowd just make sure most of the crowd isn't family members who didn't pay for a ticket. I've been to shows and there's a big crowd but most of the people are family of the wrestlers. You won't be making Vince money but don't lose money. Also, do meet & greets. Fans wants to meet the wrestlers, even if they aren't WWF guys. And if you do m & g, don't get crappy print pictures made. Invest a few dollars (and you should make it back through the fans) in getting high quality 8x10s printed. Nothing looks sillier, crappier and more unprofessional than copied 8x10s especially ones copied from a WWF promo.
As you do more shows and have the social media taken care of, fans will come familiar with your talents names and want to see them time after time. And if you do have a famous name, just make sure they don't go into business for themselves (like you advertising a WWF name for the M & G and then when you are backstage handling the show they hold out for fan for more money citing they aren't part of the M & G).
And again...ADVERTISE. You are the boss, no excuses! None of this "oh we had a radio spot lined up but it fell through" or "oh the posters printing company was closed" etc...

Fair enough. Now everyone knows I hired someone to centrally run my domains instead of paying on a per case basis with the default company the registrar offers for an additional $10 per domain per year to gatekeep inquiries and spammers that try to buy or sell domains through whois lookups. delecorp.delaware.gov/tin/controllerEntity Details THIS IS NOT A STATEMENT OF GOOD STANDING File Number: 2133300 Incorporation Date / Formation Date: 07/28/1987 (mm/dd/yyyy) Entity Name: WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT, INC. Entity Kind: CORPORATION Entity Type: GENERAL Residency: DOMESTIC State: DE REGISTERED AGENT INFORMATION Name: THE CORPORATION TRUST COMPANY Address: CORPORATION TRUST CENTER 1209 ORANGE ST City: WILMINGTON County: NEW CASTLE State: DE Postal Code: 19801 Phone: (302)658-7581(302)658-7581Even finding the corporate entity and file number of a company, an additional company providing registered agent services is often used. Most states require that there be a legal resident (sentient or corporate) that resides in the state of the corporation or entity was formed in and the yearly fee for that is much cheaper than renting an apartment in that state. That search still provided nothing as to who the shareholders are any more than if I did a whois search on the WWE domain. As far as politics goes, I'm not gonna throw the guy under the bus for having political beliefs. I don't go around to restaurants when I'm on the road asking folks what their political beliefs are before buying a meal or deciding if I'll print stuff at their Kinko's branch. I did state I understood the masking, given that I do some work for a registrar, I kind of encourage it due to other companies predacious business practices, as well as scamming. That was not my issue. My issue was the registrant name, and registrant corporation, that is what raised my flags. As, in general, you pay the registrar the extra fee to mask the contact information (which ICANN requires, but they allow for the privacy option as well, more of a 'as long as some information is there'). The actually registrant (entity that registers the domain name) is NOT masked by the privacy option. Knowing what I do, that means that the effective legal owner of wyomingprowrestling.com and bigskywrestling.com is "Resist Tyranny." And the organization is not the name of the company. Because the registrar is clearly GoDaddy, so I know who the domain names are through, I know when the rights were purchased. That coupled with the Indie GoGo campaign that is under what looks like a psuedonym raises alarm bells. Again, this was a cursory askance look, well at least for me. I know that is someone ISN'T listed as a registrant, then they effectively don't own the domain, and even if they held a trademark, ICANN tends to not give a damn, especially if the trademark post dates the registration date. I felt bad for the guy who registered a Domain Name in his teenage years under the registrant/legal owner of The Ministry of Funny Walks. Really what I am saying is, given what you said, don't f***ing trust your webmaster, or whoever you hired. And be prepared to do a UDRP, gnso.icann.org/en/council/policy/udrpI totally get what you are saying but I wouldn't let the them have that much control over the domain if there wasn't immense trust. I'm not saying for people to let their guard down but everyone has different thresholds in that regard. I have seen that kind of thing before though where someone else kept the domain and the person didn't even know they weren't the registrant nor about UDRP to get it back or immediately assumed it was a lost cause when they did find out. The entire point of starting the thread is the following:
-There's indie wrestling coming to Wyoming this summer and possibly some of the surrounding states in the not too distant future -The folks behind the promotion are stoked to have some awesome belts that aren't plastic toys -Get a feel for where exactly in Wyoming and surrounding states people would be interested in seeing live wrestling -Input from fans. What kinda stuff would you want to see at an indie show if you could actually talk to the folks running the thing?
This is quite a bit more about bringing wrestling to folks that don't get a chance to see it very often than "zomgoat ima be rich!!!11" as I can think of sooooo many areas where this would be not only much easier but far more profitable. Most people would've probably reconsidered the entire thing at the mere thought of having to transport, load and unload a ring in the snow since there's no off-season. Some folks have offered (and reinforced) some great advice and I'm quite thankful for that.

Being from Nebraska and had my hand at some live events before and going to wrestling shows I wish you the best of luck but warn you it's going to be a tough road. I've been to shows in small town Nebraska and I've only been to one that had a decent crowd and that was mainly because they had advertised Mick Foley but in reality they did have Hawk, The Bushwhackers and Iron Sheik. The fans that go in these towns are the exact fans that the stereotype shows; toothless white trash hillbillies. Hell, the scenes in Kearney and North Platte in Beyond the Mat are pretty accurate to what you are going to get. To be honest that's why I stopped going to those shows long before I moved to LA and thankfully found PWG.

When I lived in Charlotte NC, they made up at least 50% of the audience at any non-WWE shows I attended.

There's no athletic commission in Wyoming is there? This means you can take full advantage of the Exploding Light Tube Coffin match stipulation

Ya know, this might seem mean, but if you're on a message board asking where to run, maybe you shouldn't be running a promotion.

Ya know, this might seem mean, but if you're on a message board asking where to run, maybe you shouldn't be running a promotion. Not really mean but by that logic, only a person that had personally been to each and every part of the state and was pretty well versed with the major quirks and manners on each section and additionally had the numbers memorized would be qualified to run a promotion vs who was willing to invest their resources (time, money etc) into a specific industry for that region. It was sure enough asked on the board but it seems like the assumption is that some folks rushed out to spend thousands on stuff for a promotion and didn't crunch any numbers at all beforehand. Have there really been that many promotions that did that stuff? I've heard some horror stories and facepalms, but are there really that many?

That's pretty awesome that you pulled it off. I live in a bordering state, but am still 11 hours away. Wish I could support it. If you ever get closer to Boise, I'd be happy to check it out.

Thank you. One of the wrestlers on the roster is actually looking to start a promotion near you but it will be awhile. We should have a few shows in the eastern part of the state relatively soon though.

Your promotion's name/logo is already better than Global Force Wrestling and TNA

Here are my honest thoughts. Wrestling is dead in the midwest, there are hardly any schools in my state or in Wyoming for that matter. I wish there were more local indy's and more power to you, we need indy wrestling over here.
