Ever since last night my computer has been acting funny. It started with my virus scanner constantly switching off so before I went out last night I set a full scan of my computer (it was to turn off if nothing wrong was found) when I got home the computer was off as expected but upon booting it up I noticed it seemed to have returned to an earlier restore point with some programs installed that I had deleted last year. My scanner is still automatically turning off but I can't find anything so I'm f***ed. Help me FAN please.

Start the computer up on safe mode and then run the scanner.

You could try malwarebytes. It's worked for me in the past.

So another issue that just showed. Aperantly my computer never did go to an older restore point because upon restarting my computer two of the programs I mentioned (Skype and MSN messenger) were re-installed. I have no f***ing clue what is going on.

Download a Spybot as well as Malwarebytes. Run one at a time. After that, try your virus software again.

You visited a bad porno site (it's happened to me, too).
Safeware - running adware/whatever should fix it.

Run it in safe mode, then do a scan. I personally recommend Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes. CCleaner would be a good install too once your shit is clean.

Definitely echo the MalwareBytes love. That's saved my ass on a few occasions.

Can't believe you guys haven't suggested trying to run various scans in safe mode.

Could be worse. Saw an update from someone on Facebook today who said he downloaded free spyware and got 2400 viruses. Still not sure if he's confused or stupid.

So update time, I got Malwarebytes and ran a quick scan in Safe mode. It found 145(!) malicious programs buried in my C drive. After restarting I noticed that my main virus scanner (McAfee, go ahead and laugh) was still switching off automatically so now I'm running a full system scan with Malwarebytes. Oh, and I'm posting this on my uninfected laptop in case you were wondering.
