I don't really mind it. He's kind of corny, but it's Jeff Hardy being Jeff Hardy and sometimes you just have to let a star do what they want. I'm not sure how it "doesn't work"? I can see people saying they don't like it, but some people like it. Oh I get it, if a few internet critics don't like it, then everyone must not like it. "Jeff Hardy being Jeff Hardy" is exactly the problem. He's the same performer, the exact same performer, just....in a mask. The same clothes, the same moves, the same shitty self-made theme, the same everything. If it were actually something different, maybe I'd be more willing to give it a chance. Pretty much. If the intention was to be the EXACT same guy, but wearing a dumb mask, then yeah - it definitely works. But even beyond the whole "its stupid/its not stupid" thing, the core concept falls apart from the get-go due to the fact that there's nothing "alternate" about this ego.

Theres nothing alternate about it, yet its a topic on forums and people are discussing it. It's also something used in storylines, something thats a different character, and something that people can complain about it. So I don't think it falls apart. Once again it's something that the people who look to criticize TNA will point out as something they dont like. I like TNA, and therefore look for the positive in things. Willow is a storyline by a veteran that probably is a sort of favor to the superstar and also shows that superstars can do their own thing and see what happens. It may not get over, but it's not some part of some META TNA concept like an Aces + 8s, Brooke's Knockouts or Dixieland. It's just a top guy doing what he wants to do, and trying to see if it works. I personally like to see where attacking all of Dixie's underlings leads to. But that's because I like TNA and am actually interested in what happens in it.

So because you like TNA, you like the gimmick and if you don't like TNA you won't like the gimmick? That seems to be what you're saying. Because that whole theory is just very reductive and insulting to anyone who disagrees with anything TNA does. I like some of the things that TNA does, but will still call them out on things I think are stupid. I don't like/dislike anything just because one company or another is doing it. I dunno man. First off, people talking about it doesn't mean anything. Second off - its not a different character. I think if it were actually a different character people would be more open to it, but its not. Its nothing new. Its the same thing we've seen since 2008, but just in a mask. That's why it doesn't work. Like I said, I'm not even talking about whether or not I like it, but just as a concept - it doesn't work. I'd like to look for the positive in it, but there's nothing new to see.

Hahaha, I like the fact that if we don't like the gimmick, we hate TNA as a whole. Personally, it'd feel a lot fresher if he pulled out some new moves. I know it's not like he can create some new crazy never-seen-before moves, but something that he never did as Jeff Hardy would be preferable.
Start using a submission of some sort, steal "The Scar" from Matt or something.

I think I can summarize the gripe: the promo's, as weird as they were, offered the promise of something new, unique, and different. But all we've gotten is the same old flavor with a different coloring added.

I Love the Willow gimmick, it's freakin' hilarious...I'm not sure if it's supposed to be hilarious but it is. It's like R-Kelly's 'Trapped in the closet' I don't know what the hell it's supposed to be, but I love it

I'm obviously in the minority here but I'm liking Willow. Haven't really been a Hardy fan in the past but I'm digging this over-the-top loony deal. I was hoping there was another one. I appreciate the character and think it's cool to see it come to life as it is. The promos in my opinion were really freaking cool, they didn't try and hide that it was Hardy, I like the way he speaks and I think his entire mask, coat, umbrella, white contacts look is badass. I've said before, maybe I'm easy to please. I do not like the actual ring gear. When he showed up at Lockdown I was like "oh, that's his getup". I get he really can't do much but wearing stretch pants instead of jeans isn't doing much really. Outside of that I think the gimmick makes perfect sense and I like that he's trying something "new".

Here's the problem: what is the difference between "normal" Jeff and Willow? They're trying to unleash the darker, more twisted and crazier side of a guy who normally looks like this? And, as mentioned before, when he's calmer and more down-to-earth, uses weapons, jumps off ladders/the top rope, puts people through tables and often speaks in cryptic nonsense? Note how there's virtually no difference aesthetically between the usual facepaint and the new mask. If Jeff wanted to really shock people and catch them off guard, he'd cut interviews with shorter hair and a drab, grey suit (not the wild purple ones he wore as the Antichrist) and wrestle in black trunks. As bored as I am of SRS wrestlers, a SRS Jeff Hardy would be incredibly creepy.

What needs to be taken into account is that the Hardy's should almost never be allowed any say in nicknames or presentations for their characters. That's what gets you situations like Willow and "Angelic Diablo". Don't forget Itchweed I'd honestly rather have Itchweed on my TV.

I was hoping we would get something really weird. Instead it's the same thing we've seen from Jeff Hardy, but wearing a mask.
Hardy should have come out with a Destro looking guy saying "have you ever been f***ed in the mouth with a straight razor?"

*Yawn* Still not working at all. And he's the heel in this feud with Spud & ECIII right? Because they're the only likable ones in this clusterf***.

Don't you guys see how exciting and innovative Willow is. He has a mask and an umbrella, and he twirls it. Add in the cackling laugh and this gimmick is money.

Willow only makes me miss Antichrist Hardy.
Either be fan favorite regular Jeff, or Antichrist Jeff. Really no room for him to be a (psuedo?)Tweener, IMO.

As bored as I am of SRS wrestlers, a SRS Jeff Hardy would be incredibly creepy. As tired as I am of everyone aping Jericho schtick, it'd actually work for Jeff Hardy. But yeah, as is, this is the same as giving a car you previously owned for 15 years a new coat of painting and then trying to claim it's completely new.
