Hey, all.
I wanted to make a thread about this, not to gloat about my obviously MASSIVE weight loss, but with hopes it might inspire others here who are unhappy with their weight.
I've always been a big kid; not counting the time that puberty helped me lose about 40 pounds around the age of 14. This is due in part to genes, a bad diet and just sheer laziness. I always assumed that I'd have later years to worry about my weight, and I should take advantage of being able to eat whatever I wanted while I was young!
Yeah, no.
Now I've never been massive; the heaviest I've ever been is 226, but that was way larger than I ever wanted to be. Earlier this year, I knew it was time to get it under control while I was young so I didn't have to deal with being 400 pounds at 35.
I started analyzing my diet, and I pretty much cut everything I ate in half. 2 bowls of cereal in the morning cut down to one, 2 sandwiches at lunch cut down to 1, and from there I just lessened my calories in. I also replaced all of my unhealthy snacks with a combination of almonds, raisins and 90 calorie granola bars. I also began walking a mile every night and lifting weights/doing squats and lunges every other day.
When I really started caring about losing weight, I was hovering at around 220-222; today I weighed in at 211.5. Not a huge loss, but I can tell when I look in the mirror and I can feel that I've lost some weight.
I hit my first goal of 212, next is 200 and I hope to hit 175 by the end of the year.
To anybody who's dealing with excess weight and wants to lose it; you can do it. You really, really can. I didn't start eating only raw eggs and running 10 miles a day; I made little changes in my lifestyle that I could keep up with and you can do the same. Before you know it you'll be dropping a little bit of weight, and trust me, there's nothing better than stepping on that scale and seeing a number that you didn't think you'd ever see.
