Why? That had to gave gone through a few chains of command to be approved and it was. At no point did someone say "Guys, I know we all think Gary is cool and the breakfast tacos he buys are amazing... But this logo sucks donkey dong. Start over."

Ouch. Just ouch.
I think this will be their reigning king as worst bit of graphic design for a while. At the very least, they should have done something with that bit of empty red space, as the imbalance makes it even more of an eyesore.
