For some reason I can't recall them announcing the crowd numbers during the show...maybe I was distracted talking to someone watching with me or whatever.
Or did they not break a record?

I was at the show and they did not do the usual bit where Justin Roberts stands in the ring and says "you have set a brand new attendance record of [insert big number here]." At the beginning Michael Cole did mention "75,167 fans sold out in the Superdome."
I mentioned a possible reason in the WrestleMania thread. Since the Superdome can't hold as many people as the more modern stadiums can, maybe WWE thought it would somehow make them look bad that they went from 80,000 the previous year to "only" 75,000 this year.

According to Meltzer its pretty much always a work when they say they've set an attendance record.
Wwe have a habit of coming up with questionable statistics and trivia though when you think about it

He's the main person that has the internet convinced that Wrestlemania III only had 78,000 people in it even though it was packed to the max. The Super Bowl, featuring a configuration with no floor seating (due to the field) had 82,000 in the same building 5 years earlier.
