I'd be interested to know if there is, indeed, a backstory to Nattie and Cody's reaction.
But I'm more inclined to believe it was a sad moment and they were just plain affected by it. Sometimes you have no idea when it'll come on or why it'll come on, but just in that moment, it hits you really hard.

It is certainly possible both of them met him when they were really young.

Thinking more on it, I think I answered my own question up there about them being 7 and 10 back during his last big 1992 run - they were 7 and 10; during Warrior's 91-92 era, they were the perfect age to have been affected by him, whether they met him or not.

Finally got round to watching Raw
In my opinion they did it perfectly.
The tribute at the beginning was great, especially with everyone on stage, Cody Rhodes particularly you could see was struggling to hide his emotions.
It didn't take up the whole show which I was fine with, and the classic Warrior moments throughout the show were also great.
All I ask now WWE is please, no exploition angles please like you did with Eddie Guerrero.
But yeah when all is said and done, I'm glad Ultimate Warrior and WWE ended up on good terms.

Damn, that is incredibly touching. Makes me even more glad Warrior got the chance right at the end to reconcile and get the recognition he deserves.

What an incredible writer. Very touched by her sentiment and my heart goes out to her and her daughters, but that letter knocked my socks off on every level. Wow.

This letter that Warrior's widow wrote has really jarred a lot of emotions out of me. I know what it is like to lose a loved one very suddenly, the six year anniversary of my father's death was yesterday. I feel for his daughters and his wife as well. There will be tough times ahead for them, but I hope that they will keep their memories of Warrior close to their hearts. Judging by this letter, I have faith that they will do just that and God bless them during this difficult time. RIP Warrior, you will never be forgotten.

Slightly off topic, but I have a feeling, I don't know why, that Hulk Hogan is going to outlive most of his contemparies from 80's wrestling.

I've teared up every single time I've watched the tribute package from Monday. I mean... I've watched it at least 8 times and it's happened every single time. Now I'm crying after reading Warrior's wife's letter.
It's not my proudest moment, but I can't stop thinking about his wife and daughters. Wrestling lost a legend, but they lost a husband and father. We all lost a hero.

I knew it was sad and can understand why some would cry... but nothing... until they showed him coming out with his two daughters with the biggest smile on his face during the Hall of Fame... and that is when I finally broke down... and then they played the Warrior music and I perked right back up.. it was weird

The part with his kids is when it really hits the hardest.

The letter was so sweet. I continue to keep his family in thought, as they all seemed to be so proud of each other. I hope that the media will continue to leave them alone to grieve.

Fred ‘Shockmaster’ Ottman recently spoke about his memories of Ultimate Warrior. Here are the highlights…
On his memories of Ultimate Warrior: “He was a good guy, excellent and tremendous guy. He was business 100-180 percent and people loved him, he had a good heart. I did shows with him in the WWF and it’s just really sad you know he’s a young guy…he left his wife, his mom, and his precious daughters.”
On working with Warrior in the ring: “Me personally no I couldn’t give you any (stories of working with Warrior in the ring) I just was able to observe him at that time but I enjoyed watching his work with a multitude of different guys. When that music hits he would hit the ground running and it was a 150 percent till the end of the match.”
On how Warrior’s passing was different from his other friends in the business: “Well you know you got to take into effect that when he was there he was as popular and as on the same level as Hulk (Hogan) was. The people loved him, they like his look and his energy. I have mixed emotions about…I have a lot of friends and a lot of guys that all of them should be honored..we only going by a few small glimpse of wrestling history.”
