Thousands of Liverpool fans went to Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield to watch their team play a football match. 96 of them never came home. They were crushed to death by the sheer amount of fans being let into the Stadium.
The friends and families of the 96 have campaigned tirelessly for justice over this tragedy. For years the blame was deflected onto the Liverpool fans and away from the Emergency Services who the campaigners thought lost control of the situation.
18 months ago, an independent panel ordered by the British Government to investigate the tragedy, published their findings. They found that the Liverpool fans were not to blame and that the main cause was a lack of Police control. Finally the truth was here.
As a Liverpool fan who as a boy watched those events on TV as it happened, it is something that I will always remember. It is something that football fans will always remember.
In memory of the 96 who lost their lives that day. We will never forget. RIP. You'll Never Walk Alone.
Justice for the 96.

Just a heads up, tomorrow ESPN's next 30 For 30 will be covering it, but I think the Brits have to wait a bit to see it due to the court cases.

I'm always proud to see that Everton always supports Liverpool in a big way for the sake of solidarity and remembrance for the city and for the people of the city and for the memories of those lost.
Not just important in football, but in the politics of political geography.

A terrible disaster followed by the worst case of sensationalist yellow journalism ever. Horrible.
