I've only seen a movie that was based on that Malcolm Tucker show, and I think that was quite enough Malcolm Tucker for one lifetime. That said, Capaldi's a HUGE Doctor Who fan (since he was a kid) so we're not in danger of some angry Brit tearing apart the show. However I think Moffat has said he plans to "darken" the tone of the show a bit - mainly moving away from the lightheartedness that the Tennant and Smith Doctors brought to the character - to more accomodate Capaldi's style. I'm curious to see how the show does with an older Doctor who clearly (at this point) isn't being written for the fans who flocked to see Tennant and Smith.

I think we've had rumours of the show being darkened since Moffat took the job, but his background in sitcoms and general distaste for actions having consequences leads me to suspect we won't get any further away from lightheartedness. And hey, Capaldi's style can go from the angriness of Malcolm Tucker to the likes of Angus Flint in Lair Of The White Worm, bagpiping to distract angry vampires. {Spoiler}The fact that the Paternoster Gang will be returning doesn't suggest any move away from comedy!

Well he has to get to the point he can give the ANGRY EYEBROWS OF DEATH!!!! So I think there might actually be a plan to make him darker eventually.

From what I've seen, Capaldi's got some fangirls. And that's just from me as a non-fan doing one minute's worth of glancing.

Haha, that was a good video. I'm looking forward to him as the Doctor.

He was fantastic on Torchwood. That is my only exposure to him as an actor, other than his minor character on Vicar of Dibley, and his OTHER role on Doctor Who in the Pompeii episode. Can't wait to see more.
I still am working on season 6 of Doctor Who though. Got a bit of catching up to do.

The more people who watch The Thick of if, the better. It's possibly the best comedy series of the last ten years. And now an excuse to post Malcolm Tucker eviscerating Phil in an extremely sweary and scary way. link

Funny, though less funny than Voledemort calling a woman an inanimate f***ing object.

So scenes like this are now literally between the Doctor and the Master.
