Some adult male fans seem to downright hate that kids and women can like wrestling too. Some even disregard their opinions just because they're women and children(which is think is rude and stupid). What's with this elitist attitude? Is it because they're liking it wrong? Or are they afraid of losing their exclusive clubhose?
I wonder what wrestling would be like if 18+ year olds were the only ones allowed to like wrestling.

I think we can thank the Attitude Era and the fanbase that spawned it.
Since the Attitude Era was so satisfying for teens and young adult males during that time, couple that with the fact that it is synonymous with the Boom Period, fans that don't fall into the target demo of what pro wrestling is perceived as are looked at as odd.
Plus, self-loathing fans gonna self-loathing wrestling fan.

I've never met any fans like you describe.
The only obnoxious fans I know go something like this "Hey man have you seen PWG? So much better than WWE. Oh, Daniel Bryan Danielson? *smug grin*" etc

I challenge everyone to find me ten people who didn't first discover their love of wrestling as a child. Go ahead. I'll wait. I've also never understood why only men or only women could enjoy any medium.

I've never met a fan that hates women and children. Now, it is common of Adults and Children to have drastically different tastes. That's somewhat common in wrestling as well.
I have, on the other hand, met the annoying elitist wrestling fan. The only things of value that have occured in wrestling occurred in ROH or in Japan. The WWE sucks. TNA is a little better, but it sucks.
They will tell you this as they're waiting in line for the WWE show.

Kids enjoy most everything cause it's new experiences for them.
Women are just there to oogle scantily clad beefcakes.
This is my opinion of what goes on in the minds of these so called supermegaultra fans.

It's due to most Internet fans not liking people that disagree with their opinions. That is why I like the CHIKARA crowd. Hardcore fans mixed with families.

Unrelated, but I am about to show off my geekness. know exactly what show and episode that picture is from, and exactly what scene. Law & Order: SVU - Episode: "Bullseye." The detectives are looking for the parents of a neglected girl who was found in the streets. Turns out the mom and her BF (the guy in the image) are video game junkies, obsessed with an RPG. So much so that they lock the girl in the basement while they play the game. This scene is just as the detectives come into the house and are trying to get these people's attention, but they are too involved in the game to realize someone else is in the house. The detectives end up unplugging the controllers and taking the couple in. The only thing I had to look up was the episode title. The rest I know from memory. Yes, I am a nerd and geek, and I feel shame. Now, continue on with the wrestling talk.

Long-running franchises (and genres associated with a small handful of companies/franchises, like pro wrestling) tend to gradually attract fanbases of diehard nerds who feel they're entitled to special consideration for following and supporting the franchise for decades, which leads to an attitude of resentment whenever said franchise goes in the opposite direction and focuses on being attractive and accessable to casual fans outside their little club.

I dunno. I've really only ever had one girlfriend who tolerated wrestling and would watch it with me. She liked Edge. I was under no illusions as to why. She thought he was hot. Whatever.

This is like the main thing I dislike about some fans. If wrestling was just catered to 16-28 year olds it wouldn't be fun. I'm 21, when I rewatch some of the DX skits from 97-98 or some of the other over the top "edgy" stuff I find it un-entertaining. I perfer the way things are rolling in the WWE. I do enjoy Japanese wrestling and some indie stuff but times are different and so wrestling needs to change to. If only fans would move on and embrace change.

I've always been of the opinion that people who don't think the Attitude era was aimed squarely at 12 or 13 year-old boys are lying to themselves.

To be fair, the same could be said for video games, comic books, and such, at least for women. And being "fake fans" or just pandering. With kids, it's feeling that they aren't intelligent enough, and with women, it's just sexism.
