Star Fox Adventures was a really fun game. My first GameCube game too so plenty of nostalgia.

It had a pretty strong library of games. I replayed Sunshine and Wind Waker fairly recently though and I don't feel like they hold up.

I actually like the Gamecube more than the PS2 & Xbox, because IMO it had a better library of games and I actually prefer it over the Wii to be honest with ya.

Still have my Gamecube and a while back I got to looking for all the cables for it. May make that my next project.
Whereas Xbox and PS2 both were about bells and whistles (i.e. DVD, online play, etc) Gamecube was more of a case of "Want to just play video games a while? Here have this" and quite frankly I think it worked. I think if they would have used bigger discs and got more of the titles that were on both PS2 and Xbox then it would have done even better back then.

It was a fun system but it sure suffered from the lack of DVD ability and the fact that Nintendo has always aimed at the young with advertising or relying on their stock IPs.
Had they pushed harder what it could do and some of the more original games outside the kiddy games and the home brand ones and maybe they could have done better.

Fun Fact: The Gamecube's handle made it ideal for using as a bludgeoning weapon... one that was still useable after doing so Also this is the first system that I bought a game for before I bought the system. I pre-ordered Wind Waker assuming I'd have one before it came out... and I didn't....

Just look at the few major Gamecube games that did go out of Nintendo's comfort zone. People are still asking for an Eternal Darkness sequel. Oh, and that little thing called Resident Evil 4. I think a couple people might have liked that one.

Absolutely loved the Gamecube. Great selection of games too, Mario Sunshine, Resident Evil 4 and the remake, MGS Twin Snakes, Metroid Prime trilogy, Wind Waker, Animal Crossing, Day of Rekoning, Smash Bros. Melee and that's just off the top of my head.

I remember having hours of enjoyment with the system as well , but I still have to hold PS2 above it just because that system was where all the fighting games where at .
Edit : One did I really do give the Gamecube a step above was that it was a lot easier to play imports on that compared to the PS2.

I watched the Game Theory episode about gamers not wanting change and talking about the Game Cube and how the games were pretty innovative for the time and like, it made me want to buy more games for that console.

I'd love the Gamecube more if the controller wasn't godawful for pretty much any game that wasn't made with the Gamecube specifically in mind. That's really the only drawback it had. It was far superior to the PS2 and in some ways, the Xbox, in terms of hardware power and having little to no load times in that era along with a large chunk of their games running at 60 fps was a really awesome accomplishment.
It's also a shame that Nintendo of America stopped selling component cables for the GC early in the system's life. The GC supported progressive scan right out of the box and at the time component cables were the only way to access that feature. Until the Wii came out, the only way to play GC games in 480p for the longest time were to import fairly expensive cables from Japan.

Well I didn't get a Gamecube until my brother got me a used one as a birthday present 7 years ago which sort made finding games to be a bitch but after a year I sort of understood why both some people will defend it to their dying days and why others hated it.
