Just watched Halloween Havoc 97. I always thought Hogan won the rematch. WTF Piper won that one too and it was also non-title? Why was Piper never allowed a title match? Because they were building to Sting winning it.

Better to not ask why. Buy the ticket, take the ride, and hope you don't get an empty fed-ex package delivered to you.

How much of it can be attributed to Piper demanding he go over Hogan in this feud and Hogan and WCW deciding "fine, but these won't be title matches"? During his WWE run, the only time he was pinned on TV and PPV was Bret.

I agree. Think about it, Piper can best Hogan. Who the f*** needs Sting? As much as people praise Bischoff for his build to the Sting/Hogan match, this just seems a black spot that's over looked. Why not just have Hulk win? Hell, Luger beat Hogan for the title in the middle of the run up which in hindsight doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense either... Not only that but Piper beat Hogan AGAIN with a sleeperhold in a cage match ar Halloween Havoc just 2 months before Starrcade '97. The long-awaited Hogan-Sting match was already ruined before Nick Patrick's not so fast count.

Because they were building to Sting winning it. Which doesn't explain why Piper and Hogan would even be wrestling, then. Just have him wrestle someone else, in that case.

Ah, the ol' Age in the Cage match. I really need to watch some WCW 1997 PPVs to see more crap. I saw Clash 30 and was too busy staring in disbelief at why they had vignettes on Ultimo Dragon, yet he drops the belt to Alex Frickin' Wright. :/
