Is that outside of the Soinc campaign the game has not aged well.
I played the game for the first time in a while and I couldn't help but feel that the game has aged quite poorly. While a good chunk of the Sonic stages are fun I still found it hard to look like past the shitty camera and the really stiff controls that made running sort of a pain in the arse in parts which only made things worse for rest of the game.
Surely I'm not the only one who thinks this???

I think it's aged poorly from a sort of presentation aspect as well since it's been eons since I've played it. Just in the sense that while the redesigns and whatnot Sonic and Co received were a much-needed kick in the pants, everything in addition to the character designs just seems so ridiculously late 90s/turn of the millenium XTREME that it really doesn't have the sort of timeless quality that say, the first three Sonic games have. I think the decision to ground Sonic in an Earthlike environment instead of keeping the semifantastial environments of the Genesis games is another thing, too. Wasn't that the game where Sonic had licensed grinding shoes from some skateboarding company, that quietly reverted back to his normal footwear after Sonic Adventure 2?

The game also have some broken glitch and bugs. I'd playing it on XLA and on the first stage, I fell through the bridge for no reason. I think Sonic Adventure 2 age a little bit better but it been a while since I played it.

It's not just you, it has aged pretty bad. I think that it was good for its time, but unlike Super Mario 64, it was a bit too ambitious for what they were able to pull off at that stage.

I actually like how Sonic's always maintained a bit of his 90's radicalness, it makes him stand out more as a character. And count me among those who preferred SA2.
