Only thing I'd change would be to put Ultimate dead last. I hate the entire set-up of that show, and their Spider-Man is a blithering idiot. I've seen probably half of season one because my kid watches it, and it's just terrible. Doesn't help that Nova is an avatar for Jeph Loeb's son either.

Out of all those shows, not one of them has an actual ending. Most of them all end on cliffhangers.(90s Spidey comes the closest to something resembling a happy ending by having Spidey save the multiverse, making peace with Uncle Ben and meeting Stan Lee, but he's still left searching for the real MJ across all of reality)
Typical Parker Luck.

The correct #1 answer is Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.Dat "A Firestar Is Born". #CyclopsDoucheyVoice Juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuggernaaaaaaaaut! #AussieWolverineFTW As for my list... 1) Spectacular 2) Amazing Friends 3) 1981 series 4) 1994 series 5) 1967 6) MTV (though it wasn't THAT bad...) Never watched Unlimited or Ultimate, but I doubt they'd displace my higher-ranked series.

You know, I've tried watching Ultimate because it can't possibly be as bad as everyone says it is. It isn't. I just find that show completely obnoxious and I feel bad. It's like the show actually strikes me as more like the Raimi movies in tone, which is something I totally prefer instead of making Spider-Man into spider-themed Batman (like the Spider-Man Movie Reboot Nobody Asked For). I'm fine with character avatars like Sam Alexander so I don't think the idea of Nova in the show was bad, it's just the characters who get the most play on that show are the characters who are the most unlikable. No, I don't want to see Spider-Man and Nova in a constant struggle to out-petty one another right into a fight with Doctor Doom. No, I don't find White Tiger being a jerk to be entertaining. No, I don't think Spider-Man blatantly ignoring his Spider-Sense to be a quirk. It makes him look stupid. No, Nick Fury doesn't have any room to talk training someone to be a "better hero" considering he constantly flirts with the anti-hero side of things. The show is a chore to watch. It's watching an idiot, two jerks and the occasional situation with two side-characters try to be a team. Add in that Family Guy cutaway nonsense with Peter Parker constantly breaking the fourth wall and I can't help but wonder... Why is this not a Deadpool and "Friends" cartoon? I understand he's a mercenary so that's more difficult to adapt for the kiddies but come on. Deadpool being an oblivious (and sometimes conscious) asshole to his "friends" like Weasel, Blind Al, Taskmaster and Bob from Hydra where at one point his "Friends" all turn on him and try to kill him for being a shitty friend? License to print money. Spidey-Pool as interpreted by Seth MacFarlane? No thanks.

License to print money. Spidey-Pool as interpreted by Seth MacFarlane? No thanks. I pretty much hate Nova's guts. I don't really give a crap that he's named after Jeph Leobe's son, it's just that Nova is a complete stupid asshole, IMO, way worse than Spidey or White Tiger. For example, several times in "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends" Ice Man and Spidey would exchange witty retorts at one another, but when the chips were down and one of them was getting beat up by the bad guy, the other would say something like "Don't worry! I'll help you!" and at least try to lend a hand (whether successful or not is inconsequential. At least each of them tried to lend a hand to the other.) Also, the banter between Iceman and Spider-man in "Amazing Friends" seemed, IMO, to be between two genuine good friends. On the other hand, Nova is a complete little prick. Spidey will be getting killed by Juggernaut, Rhino, or someone rather dangerous...and Nova is flying around laughing and taking pictures with that f***ing little stupid ass phone of his and claiming "These are sooooo going on Facebook!" He usually doesn't even try to help unless one of the other heroes yells at him to, or Spidey begs him. Yeah yeah, Spider-man does stupid petty stuff too, and says some really dumb ass unhelpful things, but IMO, Nova started this crap. If it were me, after taking down the villain, I'd immediately go up to Fury and say "Hey, this little shit wouldn't even try to help me out. If he'd just worked with me from the beginning, we could have taken the villain down way sooner and way faster and not caused so much damage. I want this f***er off the team until he shapes up. And if you refuse, Nicky, you can kiss my ass, take back your lame ass bike, and get these losers out of my aunt's house, because I'll quit. Now do something about this dick head!" Yeah, I hate Ultimate Nova.

Wow, this list couldn't be more wrong to me.
I just don't see how anybody could rank the horribly boring MTV Spider-Man, the horribly aged 90's Spider-Man or the just plain horrible Ultimate Spider-Man above the classic Amazing Friends or the underrated Spider-Man Unlimited.
My list -
1. Spectacular Spider-Man 2. Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends 3. Spider-Man Unlimited 4. 90's Spider-Man 5. 60's Spider-Man 6. 80's Spider-Man 7. MTV Spider-Man 8. Ultimate Spider-Man

I tried watching 90s Spider-Man last year and tapped halfway through the first season. I could handle the poor animation and obnoxious narreration but I simply could not stand the speed, it felt like each episode tried to cram 60 minutes of story in 20 and then put it on fast forward for good measure.

I've never seen those 80s Spider-man cartoons but they made for some funny memes. My favorite on the list is Ultimate Spider-man, even though I dislike him working for S.H.I.E.L.D. the show would far more enjoyably without that concept, and how that MTV Spider-man is ranked higher baffles me since it's only 14 episodes and I vaguely even remember it. Spectacular Spider-man I never watched simply because of how it looks, but since people speak so favorably of it I might give it a try.

I've found in much easier to go back and watch the 90s show than Amazing Friends personally.

The 90's cartoon does not hold up very well. I can't believe no one has said SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCKER! yet. /Though Fox Spidey did give us the shortened template to the black costume saga.

eh that list is probably right... maybe I'd move the 60's stuff down and move the mtv one up. I loved the 94 series, but a lot of the censorship was always pretty lame. (though oddly I never noticed the no punching thing) but stuff like the vampires that drink PLASMA! Morbius didn't even drink the plasma. He had LITTLE SUCKERS ON HIS HANDS WHY

I've tried watching 94 Spider-Man and i just cant get into it. Its odd as i still like X-Men: TAS which was by the same team and was in the same universe, but the Spidey show just doesnt hold up.

Yeah, X-Men has aged a lot better. It's not amazing, nor is it the best X-Men cartoon, but it's still very watchable. Now I'm back to being bitter about Wolverine and the X-Men getting cancelled. Damn youse.

The 90s Spidey cartoon is pretty cool and had it's own 'spin' (hur hur) on many classic stories. I remember soiling myself when Green Goblin took MJ to that bridge. It was a crazy mix of the infamous Gwen Stacy story and SLIDERS, but it was riveting television, and had some real far-reaching consequences. It had it's share of stupidity though. I don't know what it is about 90s superhero shows, but they loved marrying their heroes off to clones back then (Lois in Lois and Clark, MJ in this cartoon), Peter's wedding story in this series was also significantly more action-packed than the real versions were I also loved how they utlized the villains, bringing them altogether under the constant employ of The Kingpin etc, and Kraven being an on/off ally was refreshing too Also, Electro: Son of The Red Skull and capable of single-handidly destroying SHIELD. So stupendously implausible it's awesome Yea the way they built him up in that episode you would have thought they were talking about Galactus or something.

To back peddle a tiny bit, there are two things about 94 Spiderman that I really enjoyed.
1st they made the black costume turn Peter "evil." All the silly lines and bad acting aside, I think that made more sense in the end. In the comics, the symbiote was described as being addicted to the thrill of being Spiderman...the worst thing it would do is cling onto him whenever he fell asleep and venture off into the night and just web swing around (and in one story done years later, I think it actually fought crime a little). In a What If story they had the costume basically kill Spidey by "using him up" but when the costume later becomes Venom, it is revealed that the suit had no intention of doing that, others of it's species did...and were parasites, but that particular alien preferred symbiosis and liked increasing it's hosts abilities. My point is that, when Spidey ditched the alien costume, he kinda came off as being a huge asshole. The 94 cartoon gave him far better reasoning for getting rid of it.
2nd, I really liked what they did with Spider-Carnage. In the comics Spider-Carnage existed in two books...for a grand total of maybe 6 pages, and was worn by Ben Reilly, not Peter. 94 Spiderman made him an alternate reality version of Peter Parker and made him pretty bad ass to boot (I believe the Green and Hob Goblins were reduced to being his henchmen) If I remember right, Spider-Carnage was also the "end all" of the show and the final villain 94 Spidey dealt with.
Oh, one last thing, which isn't really that important...I liked what they did with Beyonder. I liked that he had the hair, beard, and armor. Everything else about Secret Wars in 94 Spidey was total crap, but at least Beyonder looked really cool.
