The Spectacular Spider-Man over 94 Spider-man? I have a hard time with that one. Also nice to see Ultimate Spider-Man get some respect, that show is underrated.

I mean, perhaps I'm biased, but having gone back and watched the 94 Spider-Man a few times in recent years, it has not aged well at ALL. It's honestly pretty damn terrible. The animation and art style are both awful to me, and the strict violence rules makes it kind of ridiculous.
I wish I liked it more, but I think it's awful.

The only two I enjoyed were the 67 series and Spiderman and his Amazing Friends. I really didn't enjoy 94 series, for multiple reasons.

When it was first on, 94 Spiderman was great, but looking back on it now, it's truly horrible in just about every way. The asshole censoring of the show ruined quite a lot of potential. Also a lot of the designs were really stupid (Peter is so massive, he looks like he could break Brock Lesnar's spine even without Spider-powers), and the show was just on at a horrible time in Spiderman comics history: 90's bullshit screwing up everything, the Clone Saga going on...and on...and on...and on...and comics in general just being in a very bad place.
I would have ranked 94 Spiderman and Ultimate Spiderman lower...with 94 still breaking the top five, and placed Spiderman 81 and Spidey and his Amazing Friends a little higher. I wouldn't have had MTV Spiderman anywhere near the top 5...let alone number 3! It'd definitely be ranked just above Spiderman Unlimited, IMO.

I will never be able to hate TAS at all it has a certain charm to it that even with the abusd censorships posed on it I think it holds up well.
And plus how can anyone possibly hate a spiderman series that gives us the single greatest moment in Venoms entire history.

Maybe it's because I was so bitter about how Spectacular Spider-Man got screwed, but I think I was unfair to Ultimate Spiderman. It's a decent show & I'll give the series a run this weekend

I dont have much to add here except that:
1. All that internal monologue bullshit from the '94 show was terrible. I know that's what comics do but it didnt translate well to TV at all...
2. I loved Spectacular's theme song. It was just cheesy enough to be good. "Villains on the rise and the city's victimized / Looking up with no surprise arriving in the speed of time"

The 90s Spidey cartoon is pretty cool and had it's own 'spin' (hur hur) on many classic stories. I remember soiling myself when Green Goblin took MJ to that bridge. It was a crazy mix of the infamous Gwen Stacy story and SLIDERS, but it was riveting television, and had some real far-reaching consequences.
It had it's share of stupidity though. I don't know what it is about 90s superhero shows, but they loved marrying their heroes off to clones back then (Lois in Lois and Clark, MJ in this cartoon), Peter's wedding story in this series was also significantly more action-packed than the real versions were
I also loved how they utlized the villains, bringing them altogether under the constant employ of The Kingpin etc, and Kraven being an on/off ally was refreshing too
Also, Electro: Son of The Red Skull and capable of single-handidly destroying SHIELD. So stupendously implausible it's awesome

The way they drew Peter made him look more buff than he is as Spider-Man.

the only correct answer is Spectacular Spider-man at #1. anything else is just nostalgia talking. I say this as a life-long Spidey fan.

Mid-90s Spiderman had good things in it, best hobgoblin, best kingpin. But the odd censorship is off putting with no punches and laser guns.
Spectacular is the best but I never liked how they made Montana into Shocker. Or that they gave Tombstone the kingpin role.

If I'm not mistaken, they weren't allowed to use Kingpin for Spectacular (something to do with rights of the character being with a different company)

eh that list is probably right... maybe I'd move the 60's stuff down and move the mtv one up.
I loved the 94 series, but a lot of the censorship was always pretty lame. (though oddly I never noticed the no punching thing) but stuff like the vampires that drink PLASMA!

The 90's cartoon does not hold up very well.
