The impact zone fans just can't win. They are too loud and now too quiet.

There's a brilliant idea, JR......... shit all over the crowd for not popping at a TNA show.
At this point, TNA crowds seem comparable to battered wives. They show up basically because they have to, for some strange yet blindingly loyal reason.

Yes, TNA has done a lot of bad things to cause this crowd to be uncaring. But you have to remember that even when TNA were putting on a few good shows consecutively and the future might have been looking bright, these guys were still just zombies to it all.
I understand that the crowd being the way they are is because they have given up, but even when entertaining stuff happens, you can't just be there sitting with a thumb up your ass doing nothing. These performers deserve better than what the Impact audience is giving them. It isn't their fault for a crappy writing team and by doing what the Impact crowd has done, you are basically making them the fall guys and not management.
I rag on TNA for a lot of things, but zero crowd reaction is going to be one of those that is on the crowd.

Except the problem at the PPV wasn't so much that the crowd was dead & quiet (they were at times, but it wasn't anything different from your standard 3h PPV crowd), it was that they were openly trolling matches that didn't deserve to be trolled. The same few guys launching "Let's go Goku", "Evolution" & other various stupid chants were clearly not there to enjoy the PPV, but rather to get themselves over.

You can't cattle prod the audience into cheering, JR. "The hell you can't! I remember a Mid-South taping a few years ago when Ron Garvin walked into the dead audience and started MURDERING MEN until the audience cheered. Bah gawd, Garvin knew how to get things done."

That reminds me of those imbeciles who were chanting "CM Punk" at Lockdown

Are you telling me that you wouldn't want to see JR act(even more so) like a real life Hank Hill? <willow does something> JR: "That boy ain't right." Keep your eye on the opponent son! The opponent! No, don't look at the umbrella, look at the guy! He's gonna hit you Jeff, quit messin with that umbrella! ....Damn it, Jeff.

TNA brought this upon themselves. Years ago, the Impact Zone was full of life and the fans were wild. They were excited about the product and quite vocal to the point of taking over the show. They popped for almost every angle. Chant "This Is Awesome" for matches that got their attention. But Hogan and Company came in and changed it all. They stripped TNA of its former identity & crapped on the previous accomplishments and the crowd showed their disapproval. So TNA told them to behave because you're just cast members not wrestling fans. That lead to a large group of regulars protesting that and not returning. The ones who did try to continue to go were moved from their usual spots and replace with paid models and plants. Seeing the are no longer wanted, they stopped going. Which lead TNA with plants, models, and clueless tourists who're wondering when John Cena coming out to wrestle. The models forgot their cues of when they are suppose to cheer or boo. The plants weren't loud enough to counter the confused tourists' apathy. The very same people they wanted gone were the ones who gave the Impact Zone life. So Hogan convinced TNA to take the show on the road and cuts ties with Universal Studios. TNA went on the road without a backup plan if the tapings didn't work and bring the growth as predicted. The tv tapings put TNA even further in the hole financially and fans on the road acted like the ones in the Impact Zone. So with their tails between their legs, they went back to Orlando. The problem was Universal Studios rented out Studio 21 to someone else and the new area they tape at isn't their's exclusively.
While TNA was gone from Orlando, a new wrestling show came to town. WWE brought NXT to Orlando permanently after falling in love with Full Sail Arena. The Full Sail Arena is everything the Impact Zone used to be. The crowd is loud and interacts with the wrestlers. The shows get them excited. Matter of fact, a number of the former Impact Zone regulars are now regulars of NXT. They went somewhere that actually wanted them to make noise and be part of the show. So when TNA announced they were returning back to Orlando, that FORMER fanbase weren't excited. They didn't want to stand in line for hours and get told to how to act like fans. Sure it's free to get in, but they remember how TNA treated them. So they are sticking with NXT and TNA is stuck with the tourists who probably still thinks Hulk Hogan is still there. So you can blame the crowd for the lack of noise and excitement all you want but look at the product that is being sold if you really want the truth.

Man, the one constant in TNA was that they never had boring crowds. This is the same group of people that responded to Rellik. If TNA can't get them to respond right now, that's on them.

It shouldn't matter whose fault it is for putting on a shoddy show, the fans should react accordingly, otherwise they're telling people in the back "Yes, please give us more Willow and Eric Young as champ".

To be fair, the IZ crowd does have a history of sucking, which is the main reason many people(including people on here) were glad when TNA got away from it & went on the road. Sure, TNA isn't exactly great right now, but even with the good stuff, the crowd still barely reacts to anything. Didn't they used to be insanely hot to the point of annoying? Bunch of Chant Monkeys. A few years ago, yeah they were hot & then they got to that point where they liked to chant a lot, as you said, sometimes to the point of annoyance.

No, but if you are going to be at a show, then there really is zero point to not at least trying to have a good time. I understand you reacting accordingly to certain storylines, but James Storm & Gunner busts their asses off for that crowd not to react and whether you like or hate the crowning of EY as champion, the guy is a good wrestler and you should at least be respectful. No, by reacting to certain parts of a show, they are not telling you that you want the other stuff. You are cheering because THAT is what you want. React to what you want to see and don't react to what you don't want to see, but don't sit there and don't react to nothing because if that is the way you are going to be, then just don't be there period. Zero crowd reaction for anything is something that I can never understand and I never will understand.

The crowd that is coming to the Impact Zone is mostly tourists that got in for free who don't know 99% of the current TNA roster or not really fans of pro wrestling. They aren't going to make noise just because people expect them to do so. They are going to react to what they like. If they don't like Gunner and Storm maiming themselves for their amusement or Eric Young, they are not required to politely clap or cheer. If they feel like not reacting, that's on them. Isn't one of the things this board harps on is wrestling companies trying to control how the fans act? Otherwise, TNA can do like an infomerical and have a paid studio audience who follow the script and reacts when cued. There are enough casting agencies in Orlando to rent cast members.

TNA should have a big neon sign that says alternately "Cheer/Boo now and get free shit".
It may just work for a couple of weeks.

And if they didn't know what is going on, how would they know fully the storylines?

Cheering and screaming can really hurt your vocal cords, and if the people behind you are sitting down, then by standing up you're really just being an asshole blocking their vision. If you're not invested in something and no one else is cheering anyway, why bother?
