* Austin Aries beat MVP by DQ when King and Lashley interrupted. Eric Young made the save but got beat down. MVP announces Lashley vs. Young but Dixie Carter and Ethan Carter III interrupts. Dixie wonders why MVP won't return her phone calls. This leads to Bully Ray coming out with a pipe. He chases Dixie and Ethan to the back. Ray ends up getting into it with MVP and knocked down by King. Ray gets triple teamed. Dixie comes back out with Ethan and orders him to set up a table. Ethan goes to put Ray through it but gets blocked. Dixie distracts Ray and Ethan puts him through the table any way. * Bobby Lashley defeated Eric Young in a non-title match when King and MVP interfered. The referee went to call for the bell but MVP stopped it. MVP played like the referee was in on it. Austin Aries ran out but got beat down by Lashley. Impact ended with Lashley, King and MVP celebrating.

I tend to find that people who jump to "WCW 2000" when explaining anything happening in WWE or TNA are usually people who didn't watch WCW in 2000. Or 1999, for that matter.
You have no idea what indiscernible chaos is unless you've experienced that period of wrestling history. Hell, you can throw in big chunks of 1998 for WCW, too, on that front.

Holy f*** TNA. Another heel dominant stable? Call me in 6 months when you can try something else.

I experienced WCW 2000 when it happened, and I don't find the parallels to be off-base at all. Hotshotted World title reigns (TNA may not be as bad as WCW was, but EY still has a long road of recovery thanks to the way he got the title), a mass exodus of upper-midcard talent including their disputed World Champion, major budget problems, ratings dropping with a TV renewal not too far off, Russo likely having an influence on the product, reduced presence of the Cruiserweight/X-Division and Tag Team scenes, etc. I certainly haven't seen a wrestling product come as close to replicating the overall feel of WCW 2000 than I have with current TNA.

Those spoilers actually don't look bad compared to the last batch (especially 5/15), but the logic hole of MVP turning heel is going to ruin a lot of what they do.

Plus the fact that the company's survival is basically in an outsiders hands TNA/WCW and Spike/AOL. If Spike pulls the plug on TNA, or brings WWE back, TNA is basically dead in the water.

Business-wise? Sure, I can see that: reliance on a network parent company, loss of upper carders due to budget constraints, that's fine to point out.
It's the creative aspect I usually don't understand the comparisons for. This isn't to praise a lot of recent creative decisions TNA has made, but WCW in 2000...God, WCW in 1998-2000...was as nonsensical as a wrestling company could get. ENORMOUS roster, angles created and dropped within a single week, just a world where nothing was done with any foresight.
Again, this isn't to necessarily praise TNA's creative decision making, but isn't the exact opposite often the problem? That feuds, angles, and characters go on for too long? TNA's booking has its fair share of issues, namely when they get to executing their main event angles on big cards, but there has never been, and likely will never be, anything that can compare to what WCW looked like from a creative standpoint between 1998 and 2000.

Current TNA booking is more like WCW 2001. Younger, unproven wrestlers used to fill the void of the bigger names wrestlers no being available. Gimmick matches for the sake of gimmick matches. Authority figures turning face and heel whenever the wind blows. New booking regime taking over after Russo and Bischoff were fired/quit. Shocking title change with a respected company veteran winning the title. Said champion reminds people of a popular act in WWF/WWE. A non-wrestler being the center of attention.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a person or group of people dominate a show like this before. Not in terms of kayfabe dominance (though they do seem to beat everyone on the roster down), but the fact that theyre in like EVERY SEGMENT. Jeez. You overused the New Nation on the last show. The fans are starting to get sick of them.

Yeah, watch any two consecutive episodes of Thunder from January-March 2000 and try to piece together any sort of cohesive plot or sense of direction. You had people turning heel/face as many as three times in the same night without a hint of self-awareness.

And it feels like there's no strong leader at the helm. I remember WCW 2001 and like TNA now as a viewer it felt like the boat was adrift. You are watching it and it's like it's in limbo between life and death. You keep watching yet you know and feel like death is coming for them. There's no logic and consequences to anything they are doing. Hell the Hogan regime sucked but there was some direction.

They... better explain why the Wolves are apparently against MVP, considering he brought them in. Seems to make sense to me, they came in with MVP rather than Dixie because they didn't want to work under a tyrannical owner. They're understandably pissed that MVP has turned out to be just the same as Dixie.

Gotta agree with this. TNA has done some mindblowingly stupid stuff over the years but until the 5/15 spoilers I'm not sure anything warranted being labelled as bad as WCW 2000. These spoilers don't sound late WCW-esque at all to be honest. Do the shows sound good? Not really, but they definitely don't compare to WCW 2000. Now next weeks Impact, on the other hand, definitely sounds like something that could've come directly out of WCW 2000.

The 5/15 spoilers, the end of 5/29 and 6/5 shows do.

Impact, May 22nd:
* Austin Aries beat MVP by DQ when King and Lashley interrupted. Eric Young made the save but got beat down. MVP announces Lashley vs. Young but Dixie Carter and Ethan Carter III interrupts. Ethan goes to put Ray through it but gets blocked. Dixie distracts Ray and Ethan puts him through the table any way. Sorry but I'm avoiding this Impact show like the plague because of this abortion, don't care how good/bad te rest of the show is.
