The music had been restored to WCW footage on the WWE Network several weeks ago, so I assumed they had reached a deal.

I hated the Slam Jam album themes.
Also right before this, I remember seeing an ad in WWF magazine promoting a Slam Jam album of their own. That was very very odd to me.
