I hadn't realized it had been that long since he left, but it sort of has now and he already feels like a product of a previous generation in a way, that same sort of ambiguously "lost generation" that started leaving just before 2011-2012 or so.
Before creative had no idea what to do with him, he had THE LOOK though for sure. His slow-mo pyro, sunglasses, for me, his best period was in 2009 when he pretty damn over and when he won the IC from Rey ; when he started growing the beard though and switched to the leather-ish tights with the less pronounced furry boot covers, he just started getting blander though. I have no clue why nobody really let him use the Palace of Wisdom character vs the non-character he finished his run with, but then I remember this is 2009-2012 WWE Creative we're talking about.
Anybody know if he's still in crazy good shape? I do wonder how his obnoxiously good looks have held up and whether he'd even be able to play the same heartthrob type character. I know one of his reasons for leaving was supposedly to work on his acting and promo skills, and really, the last time I've seen hide nor hair of him online was in that comedy skit with Weird Al, dude's been pretty far off the radar. Not sure where he'd fit on the card anymore though. Even now I can't see him ever breaking through the upper midcard ceiling unless he turned into Patrick Stewart or Marlon Brando during his sabbatical.

He's still working indies and has his Out of Your Mind fitness business. The most recent thing I could find of him is a match vs. Petey Williams in FWE.

Yeah, I think the ship has sailed for Morrison and a number of others - Carlito, Masters, Benjamin. WWE is looking ahead and even though some have a lot to offer, I almost sense a reluctance from those in charge to rehire any midcarder from a past era. It's not about leaving on bad terms. It's just that they're focused on new faces. I could see them back in cameos or one-offs.

They already have plenty of spot guys on NXT and the main roster, I don't think Morrison has the charisma to be anything more.

He'd be a better fit in TNA-provided they even last that long, or possibly even in ROH or NXT. The main roster is honestly a bit overloaded right now, and he would just be out of place. I actually wish he had come back to challenge Punk for the title during the year long reign; he would have been perfect because of the surprise of him coming back after being gone, and because of their history from when he beat Punk for the ECW title. As noted, he had a great look and he had one of the most unique and athletic ring styles for his time.
Same applies to his on/off girlfriend, Melina Perez. I was always a fan of hers; she was undeniably hot and she was consistently good in the ring. She had a really gymnastic style that made her stand out. But the divas division today is already bloated and poorly used, she would be out of place and would likely spend most of her time doing house shows and dark matches rather than getting actual air time.

Hopefully, he and Melina will go to TNA. Those two split up for good a long time ago and Melina is now retired. So sadly not happening.

I think he would be a good fit/name for Jarrett's promotion if it ever gets off the ground.

I wish he would because I was a huge mark for the guy during the Dirt Sheet run (I remember thinking that between him and Miz he would definately turn out to be the breakout star of the team) but he's probably either too busy with his other businesses or just plain doesn't want to return to a fulltime WWE schedule at this point. Which is okay, because I definately don't want everyone who ever worked for WWE to be married to the company for life. I think now with more social media outlets and tons of WWE content produced outside of the normal WWE shows I think the character could become bigger than he ever was. If Bad News Barret can get over, so can the Sexual Jedi.

Doubt it. Most fans have probably forgotten about him. He's not the kind of guy who could get a huge pop as soon as his theme hits.

Well Kofi can do the spots from that parkourguy pretty well too. I think that was the most damning thing when Morrison left; they found someone else who could do his spots just as well. And considering how guys like Kofi and Ziggler are spinning on their wheels, I'd rather not have Morrison come back to do the same.

Slightly off topic, but anyone tried his fitness stuff? I've been meaning to change my workout and I'm enough of a mark to think "Yes. John Morrison is the man I want to lead me into the palace of wisdom."

Morrison has nothing left in his moveset that makes him unique enough to compete against the most stacked roster WWE has had wrestling wise since 2001. Charisma wise, he never had that much of it when he wasn't in slow motion or being deliberately monotone, but even then the guys he can outwrestle can out-charisma him any day of the week. He's got nothing to offer WWE any more.

There's always a chance. Morrison's still young, and he seems to be on pretty good terms with WWE since they plugged his fitness program a while back. I doubt he'd get a main event push or anything - if they overlooked him when he was in his prime and they had two world titles, he would have no chance nowadays - but he'd probably get a Jericho or RVD type of run.
