After seeing the Michael Jackson holographic performance I'm convinced that the technology could translate well to wrestling. The match possibilities would be endless and depending on who's laying it out the match quality could be outstanding.Taker vs. Sting in their primes, Owen Hart vs. Eddie Guerrero, etc. I'm sure it would cost a fortune to produce but I think it would make for one hell of a PPV. Thoughts?

Another 20 years and it will become a reality. The first ever Wrestlemania starring dead wrestling greats.

Another 20 years and it will become a reality. The first ever Wrestlemania starring dead wrestling greats. By that time, WWE will start realizing that part-timers aren't bringing in as much as they used to, so they'll take the next step(after, of course, their reanimation attempts fail).

That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

They still have the clone farm under Titan Towers and their current program of pairing male and female wrestlers up for next gen personnel. FCW? They took the program back underground since a couple of imperfect clones like Meltman and Buddy Stretchmarks got loose.

That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works. Eh, it's not outside the realms of possibility to make a 3D animation and pepper's ghost the hell out of it. If it was pre-rendered, they could come up with stuff looking close enough to the real thing--well, for the most part. The big problem would be that since it would be "pre-recorded" the "ghosts" couldn't play the audience and would look off. Another problem is that I have no idea how they'd pull off a pepper's ghost with a crowd from all four sides. Would be a technical nightmare. Twenty years from now though, it wouldn't surprise me if they advanced graphic stuff enough to render realistic-ish humans in real time and had actual wrestlers controlling the ghosts from an adjacent room. Which would be cartoonish as hell but could make for a nice, realistic illusion. Big thing is that the whole wrestling format with four sides would make hiding the illusion equipment pretty f***ing hard, and if you don't do that, then the "magic" of the thing could be broken. That's not even accounting for calculating how the projection would look from different sides of the crowd. I mean they could do it, it's just...man. Then there's ring ropes that would need to be moved by ghosts, a ring rigged to sync its bumps with the ghosts, the rigging/animating team would have to be made of the world's best to make movements look realistic enough, I can't even imagine how they would do ring entrances, and... ...man I started this post to say how it would be feasible but after just rambling it's like "...Yeah okay, this is probably not a feasible idea for the next few decades."

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Obviously this is something that would take years and years to make possible let alone perfect. I was more or less just thinking of what could be possible. Right now holograms are pretty new technology but they're already doing some pretty impressive things. 20 years from now (Hopefully lung cancer hasn't taken me to an early grave by then) I'm sure a lot of things we can't even conceive right now will be possible. When it does happen I'll be on my hover board and hauling ass to the closest place where this shit is going down.

Are we talking about two holographic wrestlers fighting, or one actual guy trying his damnedest to bump and sell for an illusion.

The first hologram candidate HAS to be Andre the Giant.
It would also be neat to see them re-create big spots like Foley's dive off the Hell in a Cell.
This sounds like a great attraction for the WWE Hall of Fame.

This sounds like a great attraction for the WWE Hall of Fame. Triple H talked about a very similar thing in a recent interview. That the Hall of Fame needs to be more than wrestling boots and videos. He described a hologram Andre the Giant walking around.

I like the idea but feasible it is not. At least currently. I could definitely see one later this year if WWE wanted to do it. Say they do a legends themed RAW. They advertise Andre the Giant like he was really going to be there(winking at the hologram of course, but it's the packaging and the sell that counts). You get Mean Gene to come out to the top of the ramp and do an interview spot there. Have Big Show come out and stand eye ball to eye ball and Andre regards him somewhat. You now have a moment.
