The Good Wife is solid. It's like Suits lite.

You said it... "it's the highest rated network and has the most popular shows" therefore... it's most vocally hated. I think the theory is that the average human being is an idiot and has terrible taste, (hence the popularity of Michael Bay films) and therefore those who see outside the emperor's new clothes cast hatred and scorn on these terrible things for hoodwinking the easily amused and simple-minded.

Well, this should be easy...
-Comedy: every single comedy has an annoying ass laugh track, and they are mostly run by the insufferable Chuck Lorre. They don't try to be very clever at all, and they switch between poking fun at people and stereotypes worse than any comedy on air.
-Drama: procedural after procedural after procedural. The Good Wife is actually pretty decent and Person of Interest isn't bad, but NCIS/The Mentalist/CSI/Criminal Minds are just the same old crap over and over and over again. You would never see a show like Hannibal, Lost or even Sleepy Hollow on CBS at this point, which means they rarely take a risk.

I like 2 Broke girls and I thought 'Crazy ones' was decent. Everything else is not my taste.
That said, the level of elitism and mean spirited attitudes against anyone who does like some of CBS' programming is really getting out of hand, especially here.

While CBS aren't the best TV network (The Sci-Fi Channel not using their new dumb ass name, gets that honor) but still its light years better than the likes of FOX or Nickelodeon

They seem to have a real issue with marketing and promoting new shows, while leaning way too heavily on 'Idol', Family Guy, 24's return etc

Fox has been a lot better lately with giving shows second chances and whatnot. They have a few cult comedies (Brooklyn 99, New Girl, Mindy Project, Bob's Burgers) that are funny, and they have a few decent dramas that they experimented with/are experimenting with (Sleepy Hollow, Gotham, etc.) that are risky. Plus, they gave a show with bad ratings but a mega cult following in Fringe 5 seasons, and CBS NEVER would have done that.

The C stands for Chuck Lorre and he lost his shine a while ago. I liked the first few seasons of Two and a Half Men (known as Two and a Half Jokes at the Hawk's Nest) before it became "Charlie Sheen makes fun of his depressed brother and likely functionally retarded nephew." Mike and Molly had a solid few seasons but this year they've revamped it for Molly to be every Melissa McCarthy character just cleaned up for TV. Meanwhile, other characters are just getting more mean spirited.
Big Bang Theory literally had a joke where Raj, Walowitz, Sheldon, and Leonard where in the comic book store, an attractive woman walked in, someone asked "Is she lost?" AND THAT WAS THE JOKE. That's basically their shtick and it's horrible.
On a non-Lorre note, most of their dramas are pretty cheesy and contrived (I will admit to loving Criminal Minds though) and the How I Met Your Mother finale rubbed most of us the wrong way entirely. Not to mention crap garbage like Two Broke Girls.

I know they have their flaws, but they generally have tried to do better lately after their failures with Firefly and Arrested Development as far as cult shows go.

I hate, hate, hate CBS sitcoms. Here's a typical scene from a CBS/Lorre sitcom: Character enters room. "Hello." Uproarious laughter. "Oh, hi there. How are you?" Uproarious laughter. "Fine." Uproarious laughter. Those awful laugh tracks make me want punch Chuck Lorre in the balls.
Now on the other hand, Person Of Interest is one of the best shows on television. The original CSI got a lot of life back in it with the addition of Ted Danson and Elisabeth Shue and is still a decent way to kill an hour.

Yeah ask Lucas Neff, Martha Plimpton, Cloris Leachman, et al how much they're doing better on that.

No, Lorre's biggest crime was turning Mike and Molly into the Big Fat Greek Life version of, I dunno, ALL of Melissa McCarthy's movies. That hurt the show and could hurt her career. NCIS I like cause Abby rocks. Other than that, like I said, at least CBS is the one network that TRIED to revive the daytime game show lineup.

They gave a show with pretty meh ratings 4 seasons and 88 episodes...it's not like they canned it immediately.

But after it got great reviews and etc. the first season, they pretty much treated it like a D-class citizen promotion wise. It's like what WWE is doing to say, Ziggler. And don't get me started on the schizo scheduling jumps.

I was just saying that at times they have tried to improve, but they are really bad at marketing their lesser known/more critically acclaimed shows.

I just am okay with Fox after they gave Fringe time to tell the story it wanted to tell.
