I do not remember this. But I will give it a listen right now, I guess.
EDIT: Not a fan. I dig the music, but hate the autotune vocals.

Still better than that weird post-Gnarls Barkley period of of 2008-2009 when rappers were interested in doing absolutely everything EXCEPT rapping on their rap albums. Those weird ambient singing albums, so awful

I can't remember which award show it was but he brought out a guitar for his performance, strummed it probably four times, and you would've thought he had played like Jimi Hendrix with the way the crowd reacted.

"So I invite her...and then I LIGHT UP!"
My goodness. I just click a random part in one of Lil Wayne's songs and he does the exact two things that he gets mocked for:
1. Never shuts up about weed. 2. Rhymes words that don't actually rhyme.
Seriously one of the worst major musicians to get airplay. I can't wait till mainstream rap and R&B collapse in popularity because it's going to have a Darwinian effect. Guys like him are going to go the way of dinosaurs.

I'm the sole lover of his rock phase No, I liked it too. Not something to take seriously, it was just Wayne having some fun. Technically he was pretty bad at it, but I wasn't expecting the second coming of the Ramones or anything like that.

You need to listen to 2006's Dedication 2. While Wayne's certainly fallen off over the past five or so years, at one point he was one of the greatest rappers of all time and, for about a year or so, arguably the greatest rapper on the planet. From inventive concepts to innovative flow patterns to stellar lyrics, he was everything one could want in a rapper. Seriously, check out Dedication 2.

The Kanye record was easily the best of these, but there was the awful releases from B.O.B., Kid Cudi, Knaan, etc. Really and truly dreadful stuff.

I've got some time to kill today so I might check that out myself. I've never been huge on Wayne, but it's obvious there's talent there.

Like I said about Darwinian effects: he may have been good at one point, but he's not anymore. Maybe he ran out of creativity and has nothing left to sing about, but uninspired artists with little to no present talent hanging around don't do anyone any favors.

I remember when he appeared in the "Let It Rock" video holding a guitar, but I'm pretty sure he never actually played it.
