I've been a bit out of the loop with NXT recently but I recently watched Takeover.
People seem to be chanting 'Yah' or something constantly when Ascension are wrestling, is it positive or negative? Part of the gimmick now? Inside joke?

It's because of the noise Konor makes when he hits people, similar to the "SHAH!" chants Axel/McGillicutty got when he was on NXT due to him saying that when he punched.

One of them yells "YAH!" while doing many of his moves, and it went memetic in the way wrestling things do when you're in front of the same crowd every week (see: the Bentley Bounce and the Hoyt chance from TNA).

I thought they were chanting Lucha because of Kallisto and El Local... They alternated and then somehow ended up chanting "LU-CHA-YAH-YAH-YAH-YAH!"

The dueling chant was "Let's go lu-cha!/YAH YAH YAH!"

Speaking of TNA, I never figured out what the hell people were chanting during Abyss' matches, it sounded like "whoaaaa whoa Abyss".

I don't know about the Bentley chant but I know Hoyt and Hoyt's a homo was big back then. Another one was Brokeback Mountain at James Storm man I miss 07 now everything's pc and people get offended.

Or, all of those jokes were as terrible then as they are now, and more people either get that or are willing to speak up about it.

There's nothing to get. They're just imitating Konnor.

Abyss means gateway to another dimension, so the fans act like they were going into another dimension when seeing in Abyss in the ring.

Yeah bro I miss when wrestling fans at shows would go out out of their way to prove every stereotype true.

The Ascension played along with it too which was cool, they are well and truly ready to come up as a monster heel Tag Team in June mould of the Road Warriors.

Yeah bro I miss when wrestling fans at shows would go out out of their way to prove every stereotype true. Stereotype? See that's what I mean about being pc. What I mean is the stereotype that wrestling fans are fat, stupid mouthbreathing virgins who live in their parent's basement which they only leave to go to wrestling shows and have barely enough brainpower to keep a pulse going, let alone do anything successful in life. Chants like that go a long way to prove that stereotype true. I don't give a shit about political correctness and, despite being gay, find a lot of what happens in the media around it and a lot of other things to be kind of insincere and annoying just as you do (won't go too deep into it, don't want to break board rules). Of the 20 billion things that could right the wrongs of professional wrestling in 2014, insecure morons chanting "faggot" at someone (despite paying money to watch bodybuilders to pretend fight each other in their underwear) is pretty far down the list, a few spots under giving JTG a 5 year world title reign.

Any time I read this forum, I read how boring The Ascension are and how they ruin NXT then I see this thread and the Takeover thread and see lots are saying The Ascension are ready to move up.
This board flips and flops like it's bi-polar. It's all one poster with mood swings, isn't it?
