Oh boy, this game's going whole hog with the micro-transactions: See, I don't have much problem with that since there's a fatality practice mode in the game and it gives you unlimited time to practice the button combinations. It's not like they set it up to where you need the easy fatality tokens to play.

Just blazed my way through the story mode so I could avoid getting any spoilers, and damn that was fun. I'll probably play through it a bunch more times in future, because there's so much packed in there. And that's just the tip of the iceberg with Netherrealm games. Spoilers within, not putting anything central to the plot, but anyone who wants things to be properly surprising in the story mode shouldn't click. {Spoiler}Loved all the little cameos throughout. I know the post-MK3 games don't get the best rep, but MK4 was always the game I had the most nostalgia for from childhood, and I devoted too many hours to Deception and Armageddon in my teens, so seeing some characters reappear here made me very happy. And like we discussed earlier in the thread, looks like Bo Rai Cho has a bit more dignity this time around. I certainly wasn't expecting the likes of Li Mei to appear either. Just hope she becomes DLC or appears in a future game as playable because I always enjoyed her moveset.
As far as playable characters go, I have to say that Kung Jin surprised me with how fun he was. Cassie's probably a close second. I'll have to have a fiddle round with some of the other variations (Kotal Kahn's 'Sun God' seemed pretty useless but he had a lot more skills in the fight against his 'War God' version) and then probably pick a main.

Not only this but after installing all that, half the game is locked out. Where's Homicide shaking his head when I need him?

I downloaded the mobile game and it's being a pain in the ass.
It wasn't accepting a username before... after finally getting past that it crashes like every time I try to link my account with the WBID.

So far, I am absolutely loving Stunt Double Johnny Cage's gameplay. The guy finally has some decent zoning tools at his disposal.

{Spoiler}Ok, the 'selfie' fatality is the best thing ever, mainly for the comments on the fake social media page.
KanO's: A/S/L? SonyaTheBlade: Cassie, why is Kano on your friends list? ThunderMan: Have to admit, I din't see that coming. Goro: Goro!

Has anyone unlocked the Mileena/Kitana classic costumes with the app? If so; how long does it take to get to level 40 for Kitana and where is the supposed challenge tower for the Mileena alt?

Not gonna post spoilers or anything, but I really just want to point out how absolutely fun story mode is in MKX. I liked MK9's story mode and all, but what a seriously well-told story mode this is so far.

Wonder if the final boss is cheap as hell as it was in MK9

I've only done the first few chapters of the story mode and a few hours of online play, but so far this is everything I hoped it would be and I can already tell that this will be spending a fair amount of time in my Xbox One over the coming months.
Without spoiling anything for anyone I'll say that I've been impressed with the new characters that have been introduced into the story and i'm looking forward to playing as some of these guys/girls just as much as I am about revisiting the old favourites. For the most part these seem like characters that have had some time quality time and energy invested into their creation, so some of them will have a shot of becoming characters who pick up a decent following and go on to be remembered fondly in the years to come. After one day I already care about some of these characters more than I ever did about some of the instantly forgettable characters that were introduced between Deadly Alliance/Armageddon.
The online play was smooth as silk for me in the few hours I spent on it, I picked up my fair share of wins alternating between Kitana and Scorpion. I'll decide which of the new characters to try out online once i'm done with story mode.
The faction I've gone with is the Special Forces, Currently placed last in the faction wars. I don't mind running with the underdogs!

Wonder if the final boss is cheap as hell as it was in MK9 ... Worse. {Spoiler}The fire attack he spams is damn near impossible to avoid, and your best hope is that he chooses not to use it often. The plus side is that I'm personally a lot better with Cassie than with Raiden, so that made it a little easier. Just keep the pressure on, because Cassie isn't strong with long range stuff and the boss really, really is.

Having seen the ending I'm curious where they go. Reading the MK game history, so the events of Shao Khan and MK:Armageddon shouldn't take place, right?

It's interesting how Corrupted Shinnok is (I think) actually that demon thing from Mythologies: Sub-Zero and the arena is awesome, but the fight itself is really just down to avoiding that stomach/dick laser. Also, one thing I did find amusing is that one of Corrupted Shinnok's attacks involves him shoving your head into his stomach/crotch. I admit that I laughed out loud the first time I saw that. I've only done the first few chapters of the story mode and a few hours of online play, but so far this is everything I hoped it would be and I can already tell that this will be spending a fair amount of time in my Xbox One over the coming months. Based on that ending, I'm sorta inclined to say that at least Deception still happens. As for Armageddon, everyone is still sorta there, right? I'd say even in this alternate timeline, there's still plenty of fighters to unbalance the realms and all that.
